Should Pima County Sheriff Clarence W. Dupnik be recalled?
1/10/11 | self

This Sheriff is using this unspeakable tragedy to further his own political agenda. This is clearly a misuse of his office. He has already admitted, on national media, that he has not a scintilla of evidence to back up his shameful, baseless charges that the Conservative movement had something to do with this horrible tragedy.

He is deliberately misleading the people of Pima County and general public as to the cause and nature of yesterday’s attack and is, by his own words, furthering the climate of hatred, vitriol and violence by this obscene falsehood.

He also failed to protect over a dozen citizens of the SDtate of Arizona from attack by a vicious, crazed gunman. His incompetence is only exceeded by his deliberitate and wanton derelictin of duty and attempt to politicize this tragedy..

He is unworthy of his office.

ARTICLE VIII. REMOVAL FROM OFFICE

PART 1. RECALL OF PUBLIC OFFICERS

§ 1. Officers subject to recall; petitioners Section 1. Every public officer in the state of Arizona, holding an elective office, either by election or appointment, is subject to recall from such office by the qualified electors of the electoral district from which candidates are elected to such office. Such electoral district may include the whole state. Such number of said electors as shall equal twenty-five per centum of the number of votes cast at the last preceding general election for all of the candidates for the office held by such officer, may by petition, which shall be known as a recall petition, demand his recall.

§ 2. Recall petitions; contents; filing; signatures; oath

Section 2. Every recall petition must contain a general statement, in not more than two hundred words, of the grounds of such demand, and must be filed in the office in which petitions for nominations to the office held by the incumbent are required to be filed. The signatures to such recall petition need not all be on the one sheet of paper, but each signer must add to his signature the date of his signing said petition, and his place of residence, giving his street and number, if any, should he reside in a town or city. One of the signers of each sheet of such petition, or the person circulating such sheet, must make and subscribe an oath on said sheet, that the signatures thereon are genuine.

Yes.

We should also circulate a name change petition on his behalf. “Clarence Sputnik” is probably the reason for his irrational behaviro.

Yes, he failed to mention those people who were boycotting the state of Arizona, the violent protesters that came to Arizona shortly after the immigration law was past. He was implying that anyone who wanted to stop illegal immigrants from entering our country is racist and bigoted.

Then he screwed up on presenting why Judge Roll was at the event, he wasn’t just there to say hi he wanted to discuss border violence with the Congresswoman.

Also, the lady he gave credit to getting the clip said the 2 guys tackled him and saved the day.

The problem is that he would have to be recalled by the electorate in Pima county.

Law enforcement is never supposed to speak about these things because everything they say can be used by the defense in the trial.

This killer could get off because of the things this sheriff said!

You need petitions signed by 90,078 voters by my calculation.

He slandered his state, his legislators, and all the while had no idea just how many people had been shot and wounded.

A pathetic publicity whore with no conscience or soul.

He’s a clone of Chief Moose of white van infamy.

“The sheriff has been editorializing and politicizing the event since he took the podium to report on the incident. His blaming of radio personalities and bloggers is a pre-emptive strike because Mr. Dupnik knows this tragedy lays at his feet and his office.

Six people died on his watch and he could have prevented it. He needs to step up and start apologizing to the families of the victims instead of spinning this event to serve his own political agenda.”...

This sheriff knows a lot more about Loughner and his problems than he’s saying. There had to be many warning signs.

He needs to be held accountable for knowing that Loughner was unbalanced months ago yet chose to do nothing about it.

Right now there is NO evidence that any public employee of Pima County, AZ took any steps to get Loughner mentally evaluated even though they knew he was mentally ill.

Arizona has procedures in-place whereby any law enforcement officer can have someone involuntarily committed for a short period of time for evaluation but Pima County officials chose not to do so. Even after Loughner was banned from his college for being mentally disturbed; even after PCC campus PD knew of his problems; even after PCSO was aware of the issues Loughner had and of the DEATH THREATS he had made against persons currently unknown.

It’s perfectly clear to me why Sheriff Dupnik is out there 24/7 trying to portray Loughner as a tool of the Right. It’s because of numerous failures in the way Pima County, AZ handled this is why 18 people were killed or wounded on Saturday.

"The Secretary of State's Office released statistics showing 3,146,418 Arizonans registered to vote in the 2010 general election; 486,697 people registered in Pima County. Of those, 151,502 people registered as Democrats, a decrease of about 4 percent from the 2008 general election. Republicans account for 142,730 registered voters, a number that increased over 5 percent since 2008."http://www.kvoa.com/news/voter-registration-down-in-pima-county/

More than enough to get the job done.

Sure give it a try but you all need a candidate to replace him.

Correct. The Sheriff’s department should not have granted the perp a CCW or permit to purchase a pistol. The sheriff’s negligence caused this tragedy and should be dealt with accordingly.

That idiot should definitely be recalled. Megyn Kelley repeatedly asked Dupnik for specifics as to what link to political rhetoric was the shooting. He didn`t come with a single one. It was quite clear he`d been given the same talking points as the other liberals. To tie this to the political wrangling over ObamaCare and the GOP`s “blocking of legislation that helps people” was absolutely deplorable. Dupnik followed Rahm`s advice about never letting a crisis go to waste to the letter. I wonder if that bought him some praise from 0bama.

The guy failed to do his job and there are a lot of people dead because of it. The coward thinks the best defense is a good offence and as long as he can try to pin the blame on someone else the longer he can go before people realize what a total failure he is.

Should Pima County Sheriff Clarence W. Dupnik be recalled?

His behavior, his failure and his idiotic, divisive political theatrics at a time when we need to be bringing the community together are inexcusable. He should step down immediately or be recalled.

>> He’s a clone of Chief Moose of white van infamy <<

I think you’re defaming poor old Chief Moose. As far as I could tell, he was mostly just clueless — an affirmative action hire who was “in way over his head.” I would have found it hard to attribute a strong political motive to public his statements.

On the other hand, Sheriff Dope-nik is clearly a loco-foco political operative who was reading straight from the Dhimmiqrat playbook. Shame on the voters of Pima County if they don’t mount a successful campaign to recall this irresponsible jerk.

(And BTW, last I heard of the pathetic Moose, he had been reduced to taking a foot-patrolman’s job on the Honolulu police force!)
