Wilmington, Delaware (CNN) -- Police have found homicide victim John Wheeler's cell phone, according to a taxi driver who was interviewed by investigators this week.
Athel Scott told CNN National Correspondent Susan Candiotti that police told him they found the cab driver's number in the phone of Wheeler, the former Pentagon official who was found dead in a Delaware landfill. He said investigators wanted to know how his number got there. Scott... says he told the police he didn't have any idea.
"I never got a call from the man. I don't know him... He's never been in my cab. I don't know how my number got in his cellphone," Scott says he told police...

Thanks for the ping, Albion!
I see Jack’s behavior as a man trying to escape.
For example, when he asks the pharmacist for a ride, he leaves when the pharmacist offers to make a call.
Could this mean Jack thought the pharmacist would turn him over to authorities that were after him?
The same at every stop.
He was looking for his attorney....why...did he want to give some information that could be revealed in the event of his death?
The trip to Madrid could be Jack himself, trying to setup a diversion so they would look for him at the airport.
All these things make sense if someone powerful is after you.
Thanks for the ping and the very nice photo of Jack Wheeler. That is how he should be remembered.
Albion Wilde, just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know how much I appreciate your summaries of intervening relevant links and info when you post your pings. I know it takes time for you to do this, and it’s a huge help for those of us trying to keep up with the story.
Yes! Greta Van Susteren single handedly made the disappearance of Natalee Hollaway a national cause celebre. Entirely due to her incessant drumbeat, nearly every adult American knows the names Natalee Holloway, Joran Van Der Sloot, and a lot of details about the case.
Why doesn't the homicide of Jack Wheeler deserve at least the same amount of media attention? It's a very sad commentary, imo.
I wonder if she only admitted to being mad at him because someone heard them fighting??
I couldn't figure out why Jack was staying in Wilmington instead of going home to New Castle or back to NYC or why he didn't call his wife from a hotel or whatever....after he was robbed....now I think I know...
The first search I did on Colm's, said he was a good divorce attorney.
I wrote "wife did it" early on and someone posted "Dinozzo" to my comment...and we all laughed.
One more thing...They were going to a wedding on the 31st. Wonder if she showed up with someone else.
If it was a real "govt) hit...they would have got him the first time.
His own kids are silent. IIRC, He has no children by Klyce.
This article gives a whole new perseptive to the case and also a little insight as to why she hired an attorney.
Remember, she had originally hired a DC attorney...
P.S. She's a Dem and Jack was a Repub.
I don’t think she was involved but I did find it strange that she could not contact her husband for days and then she went to a wedding? I would be hysterical heck I am hysterical if my husband does not answer his cell after an hour or so. How can she go to a wedding when she can’t reach her husband for two days???????
yYes. Her earlier business would be interesting to know. There are these and other questions that need to be answered.
Have always said Jack got a whack in with the shoe...and it had blood evidence...And his wife said what?? That's crazy...
My gut is telling me she may not be the real nice lady we think she is....
Who the hell would tell the public that I was mad at him when he left because he had to work...and she got so mad when he didn't get back to her that she said "Scr** you"...I'll go without you."
What does that do??? Gives her an alibi for the hours before he was dicovered. Ta dah.....
I agree it is sad that this case is not getting the attention it should. I plan to write to some of the Web sites I visit more or less regularly and ask them to at the least mention it. I will also write to Greta. I doubt America’s Most Wanted accepts emails but I will check.

“What strikes me a such a contradiction is the fact that this man cannot find his own ass with both hands, yet is providing counsel to security organizations?...”
:) Gotta love it, straight to the point.
Add Bipolar and a ‘touch’ Aspergy?
How does anyone get and keep a high security clearance with all of that going on?
In fact, she has nothing good to say about anyone which makes me think "defense"....
Maybe I missed the posts. But what happened to his first wife Elisa, the mother of his twins? Wikipedia does not even mention her.

Genius...Reminds me a bit a family member.(particularly the part about winning the race if he could find the racecourse) Many genius are quirky.
Jack's wife says: His mother is alive?? Jack is "normal" in the garage videos. Jack got lost all the time. He was "nutty".
But the big thing remains....she was mad at him and she just decided...sc** you...I don't give a damn where you are...I'll go to the wedding without you"."
It almost sounds like she knew him well enough to set him up for a hit. She had an alibi...
Interesting that she is coming out saying....I called him....he didn't return my calls and that really pi**** me off.
You have to remember her background....The Southern Belle...Much higher on the "status" pole than Jack.
I don't know what to think. Women rarely even bad mouth their ex's when they die.
Wellya all jist say it awl witha liddle drawl and it doesn’t sound so bayudah.
So what's bothering me tonight...Jack's emails...
26th..."Stuck in NY"
27th..."Still stuck in NY"...
If his meeting wasn't until the 28th, he was certainly anxious to get out of there....and he certainly wasn't anxious to get back to her in NYC for the wedding...
She certainly gives one a bad impression...
Her sister was brutally murdered over a 20.00 drug debt owed by her nephew.
