House Republican Introduces Bill to Block FCC’s ‘Internet Grab’

Rep. Marsha Blackburn introduced legislation Wednesday to deny the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulatory oversight over the Internet, which the Tennessee Republican insisted was the “sole prerogative of Congress” to administer.

“I agree that the Internet faces a number of challenge, ” Blackburn said in a release. “Only Congress can address those challenges without compounding them. Until we do, the FCC and other federal bureaucracies should keep their hands off the ‘net.”

What exactly is the point of bills like this?

1. To make sure 'rats running for re-election have to face criticism, and even ads, that point out that they voted against popular bills.

2. To get Obama to veto popular bills if they actually get past the Senate, and then run against the ads and criticism about it in 2012.

Look they have to start somewhere and as long as they keep moving in the direction of cutting government control and government budgets and making the rats defend their Marxist positions then they have my blessing and job well done.

The point is to provoke a public discussion which in turn serves to educate the voting public. Conservatism will not win this fight unless it prepares the way. Part of that preparation is to open American’s eyes to the Constitution’s impact on their lives and to undo propagandization of America by the Marxists.

The left took 60 years to make it possible to seat a Usurping Marxist as president. The damage will not be corrected over night. Therefore every opportunity must be taken to provoke public discussion and debate.

Our crusade is eminently doable because conservatives can say unabashedly what we believe in and why. The left on the other hand must lie, cheat, steal and trick or murder its way into power.

I am curious, though. What would you be doing if you were a newly elected conservative representative or senator?

Here’s the problem: The courts have already ruled that the FCC lacks regulatory authority over certain aspects of the Internet, and there is an excellent chance that the SCOTUS will spank the FCC again. The introducion of legislation that prohibits the FCC from regulating the Internet is an admission that the FCC currently has the authority to so regulate.

Still sounds a little too pro-government for my tastes. How about “keep your damn hands off my internet”?

With the introduction of her bill, it becomes part of the conservative agenda and they can add the bill as an amendment to a budget bill, if it can’t pass on it’s own.

Yep they are baby steps, but given that Pelosi/Reid and Obama managed to inflict such serious damage in such a short time, it is going to take a long time and alot of public support to bring us back from the brink. Can you imagine if the people did not rise up and stop this attack on freedom in NOV? We would be marching toward our inevitable destruction right now. Instead we are witnessing a rebirth and should take pride and see real hope for continuation of Freedom and liberty and and pushback against government oppression and tyranny.

We must win on the Obamacare reform, that would truly be a big Effin Deal, and we must somehow get the entitlement programs eliminated or reformed. We must force this government to return the power to its rightful owners, We The People by beating back Obama’s czars and their government takeover programs.

So witnessing these baby steps I can say I am proud of our new House Of Representatives, God Bless them.

“I agree that the Internet faces a number of challenge, ” Blackburn said in a release. “Only Congress can address those challenges without compounding them."

That's strange... they did read the Constitution today, but I didn't think "regulate communication" was among those enumerated powers.

This is great news, each step they take will have an effect and they will build their strength to keep at it and not give in.

Yep. The internet doesn't need the FCC or Congress "helping" things.

Well Damn! Our guys and gales are going for it. God bless them. Their starting to shut down all the things that really went wrong with the Feds.. Take all the czars out. Defund the damn EPA, NASA the DOE if they don't get the message to stop the global warming scam, once and for all, along with the horrid cap and trade scams.
Who knows. We may finally have found a bit of hope. The clowns in the Senate may lay around and waste our tax dollars on their salaries that to often on to many issues is a total waste. But the HR holds the keys to funding. And there is not a damn thing now the wicked witch from the west and her cronies can do to stop what will be a number of very honorable acts accorded this 112 Congress.
No response required. Tis getting late. Just wanted to add my glee as how serious at least on a couple issues the dominant Republican based House is starting to work on.

What a great day!

Boots on the ground have arrived. Let's hope they are up for the fight and will not cower under the media attacks that have already commenced. I love how the media is raising a firestorm about the reading of that old silly document the CONSTITUTION.

Since Zero is going to veto anything he doesn't like anyway, here's the chance for the Dem senators who are up in 2012 to burnish their more moderate credentials by voting with the Repubs in the Senate.

That said, I still think the Repubs in the House are doing the right thing. Showing the flag--the Gadsden Banner, that is. Many people never even considered some of the things that are being discussed and legislated. It will wake more people up, if nothing else. And if Zero has to veto everything, not a good sign for him in 2012.

Let freedom ring! Legalize freedom. We the people demand freedom from the overbearing, overreaching, oppressive, and anti-American fed.gov. Shove freedom down Obama’s, Pelosi’s, and Reid’s, throats. Git’r dun newbies. Take no BS, and take no prisoners. Your future, and our future, depends on it.

It’s been nearly 100 years since Wilson enslaved us all. Release our shackles. Set us free.

For those who don’t know, it was Wilson, in 1913 who conspired with international bankers to create the federal reserve system. In that same year, the federal income tax was established. This was the year all Americans became slaves to the whims of the Federal Reserve, and the Federal Govt.

And yes, of course, illegal immigrants are exempted from their fanciful whims. It’s only “Joe the plumber,” a multi-generation natural born, who must comply, or have his bank account and properties seized. Then, he gets to wear an orange jump suit, to go along with his ankle and wrist bracelets. His crime? Failing to “properly” do what the ‘massa sez’.

Yes they need to connect the demons with the high price of gas, more dependence on middle east oil and by not allowing development of our own resources.
