Sanitation Department's slow snow clean-up was a budget protest (NYC union thugs)
NY Post ^ | 12/30/10 | SALLY GOLDENBERG, LARRY CELONA and JOSH MARGOLIN

These garbage men really stink.

Selfish Sanitation Department bosses from the snow-slammed outer boroughs ordered their drivers to snarl the blizzard cleanup to protest budget cuts -- a disastrous move that turned streets into a minefield for emergency-services vehicles, The Post has learned.

Every member of the sanitation “workers” union should be charged with murder for every death related to unplowed roads.

We need a constitutional amendment banning all public employee unions and extremely harsh penalties for any of official or unofficial efforts at organizing public employees. They are traitorous, extortionist, thugs, robbing the tax payers and killing innocent people.

>>>Indeed times are hard and the city could very easily replace the criminal union <<<

With far better workers at a fraction of the cost.

Might want to take a page from the Chi-Com playbook; execute those officials involved with corruption or malfeasance. It may not work but it sure couldn’t hurt.

Cut the city up into about 20 districts and privatize the trash and snow removal. No one company to have more than three districts.

End of problem.

I second the motion for House Hearings on this. Let’s show some guts in the House. Let’s stand up for the American people? What say you, Republican Party House members?

That would be exactly teh wrong thing to do.

There is no constitutional authority for the congress to investigate snow removal in NYC. If NYC gets buried in their own snow then they have to dig themselves out. It is not the fedgov's job to interfere in any way. (Unless it directly affects defense)

They should all be fired and the city should contract the work out to several companies (non-union). Get the private sector competing for the contracts and watch things improve.

Disgusting, but how sorry can you feel for NYers? They elect these beholden-to-the-union idiot politicians. Bloomberg is probably the biggest RINO out there. If you expect him to go after the union think again. Just like here in MA, the voters will return these same idiot politicians for more punishment.

So I wouldn’t feel sorry for them.

If this is true and Bloomberg really had any b@lls, he would move to de-certify the union and have criminal racketeering charges brought against the union leadership. In an era of 10% unemployment the city could save a ton of money by hiring all new sanitation workers under a new collective bargaining agreement.

Of course, that would require Bloomberg to take the kind of action he only likes to take against smokers, trans-fats and legitimate gun dealers in other states.

Union thugs really suck. We should fire every single one of these bums.

Unfortunately, you CAN'T fire these bums--that's one of the benefits of being a member of the union mob! >:-(

The New York Times is "surrounding" the story as well..(extreme sarcasm)

New York Times: Quit Complaining And Leave Those Poor Unionized City Workers Alone:

But is there a point when the outrage itself become outrageous? After all, it was an awful lot of snow. Or is outrage something every New Yorker needs to experience to pull through? Can we all learn to stop complaining and love the plows?

Mr. Polan, the sanitation commissioner from 1990 to 1992, was spared a blizzard during his tenure. “I was fortunate,” he said. The reality is, to plow every street quickly enough to avoid outrage is unfeasible, he said.

This is a norther state that gets snow during the winter, it is not Miami! This is a disgrace!

We all know the unions will be back on Capitol Hill asking for money to prop up their funds, they should not get a dime! And yes, every single one of them should be fired and sued!

“Unions in the private sector (and even moreso in the Public Sector) or now functionally no more than organized-crime syndicates, extorting money from taxpayers, and funneling it to themselves and favored politicians.”

Unions have always had the reputation of sleeping in the same bed with the mob since the 1930s and nothing has really changed.
