Decades on, EPA on verge of curbing use of rat poisons
MSNBC.com ^ | December 22, 2010 | Robert McClure

The Brand names include Havoc, Talon, Contrac, Maki, Ratimus and d-CON Mouse Pruf II.

The EPA now is moving to curb widespread use of these rodenticides, starting next June. That move, however, could be short-circuited by a lawsuit filed by the multinational corporation the sells d-CON products.

Pesticide manufacturers, applicators and health officials say controlling rats is an important public health goal because they can spread a number of diseases, including hemorrhagic fever, leptospirosis, salmonellosis and rat bite fever.

Rat and government have become synonymous.

I think rats would take offense to that remark. An apology is in order. ;-)

Look at the banning of DDT and see how many millions have and continue to die for that bit of unscientific concern. If the mosquito's and rats don't get you the gov will.

I just insert the sticky traps in the attic and leave ‘em there for a couple months. Each time I check there’s something there that looks like it was once a rodent... but am not sure.

Just the EPS doing for rat-borne diseases what the prohibition of DDT did for malaria...

All based on junk science. And if the EPA thinks black and Latino kids are disproportionately affected by exposure to rat poison, wait till we see how affected they are by exposure to rats and rat-borne diseases.

Demonstrating for the umpteenth time that leftists are not concerned about the consequences of their actions. Consequences are serendipitous, creating more opportunity for government action.

I learned many years ago not to use poison when I had mice in the apartment where I lived at the time.

The poison works but the mice crawl into some human inaccessible space and die, then you live with the smell.

Set traps, they work too.

Since it’s been scientifically proved that Blacks and Hispanics are most affected, EPA should issue a regulation prohibiting Blacks and Hispanics from buying rat poison.

I see your point, but in the projects don't quite know how one would distinguish the smell from backed up sewers, rotting trash, etc.

Name anything that’s been beneficial for mankind, and these stinking rats will eventually get around to trying to ban it or take the fun out of it.

What will the EPA do when unattended kids eat those nice curly Al Gore light bulbs?

Yes, it is TIME to DownSize DC! Close entire departments, Dept. Education, Dept. Energy, EPA, HS, etc.

It is TIME!

From The CDC:

Historical Review: Megadrought And Megadeath In 16th Century Mexico (Hemorrhagic Fever)

The epidemic of cocoliztli from 1545 to 1548 killed an estimated 5 million to 15 million people, or up to 80% of the native population of Mexico (Figure 1). In absolute and relative terms the 1545 epidemic was one of the worst demographic catastrophes in human history, approaching even the Black Death of bubonic plague, which killed approximately 25 million in western Europe from 1347 to 1351 or about 50% of the regional population.

The cocoliztli epidemic from 1576 to 1578 cocoliztli epidemic killed an additional 2 to 2.5 million people, or about 50% of the remaining native population.

A melted chocolate chip works even better than peanut butter or cheese. Heat up the bait holder with a lighter and then squish a chocolate chip into it.

It’s harder for the mice to rob the bait and they can’t seem to avoid it. I once caught a mouse 5 minutes after I laid the trap.

Ban DDT, condemn millions to death by malaria.

Ban rat poison, bring back the Black Plague.

These people are better demons than Satan himself.

Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.
