Marine, wife attacked by teens after showing of "Little Fockers"

MANATEE, Fla. (AP) — A group of unruly teenagers attacked a 27-year-old Marine and his wife who had asked them to be quiet during a Christmas night showing of "Little Fockers."

The attack happened as the couple left the theater near Bradenton Saturday night. Authorities say the fight attracted about 300 bystanders.

Federico Freire, home on leave from Afghanistan, says they left the theater shortly after the teens were asked to leave.

The couple was kicked and punched in the parking lot before a gun-brandishing witness told the crowd to step back just before deputies arrived.

Yeah, and this is one reason I don’t go to the movies. Bad manners, people won’t shut up, they try to text and talk on their cell phones, if you ask them to knock it off they get ugly. Forget it, I can wait to see most things at home.

I once complained of noisy and disruptive young people about 3 years ago at a large local cineplex to an theater employee and was told I could leave if I was being bothered. The offending youngsters were allowed to keep right on causing disturbances. I did leave and have not ever gone back to an indoor theater since and have no plans to do so either.

I have a feeling Destiny, at the tender age of 20, has already reached her destiny. At best, her life won’t go too much farther downhill. I’d be willing to bet, though, her future is going to be a lot worse. There’s just an incredible amount of vacant stupidity in her eyes.

MrB, you would find the same “culture” in Angola, Nigeria or other parts of southern Africa. I will grant that European colonization had an impact on Africa, but the tribalism that exists there today is likely what it was hundreds of years ago, minus AK47’s.

Did this happen in Texas? I'm a little surprised. Last time I had trouble with some yutes in a theater, I was getting pretty aggravated but there were about 5 of them and just my daughter and myself but thank goodness, finally some guy about 10 years my senior ripped them a new one. He was very assertive about telling them to shut up and behave them selves because people were trying to watch the movie. I then turned around and said "thank you". About 3 of them settled down and the 2 really loud ones left. I so appreciate real men.

If these were white thugs attacking this Marine and his girlfriend, this would have been national news for days. The media is derelict in their civic responsibilities for not well-disseminating stories like this and fostering a national dialog.

The difficulty with blending anymore is you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting some surveillance camera or another.

Well that's the truth and the kids/punks know it, too. So be like them: Don't look up! Especially if it's cold out, most folks will be in jackets, sweaters etc. But even in summertime, there's ways to dress so as not to ummm stand out.
