President Barack Obama, addressing a tribal nations conference at the White House last week, announded that the U.S. government is now supporting the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People, which includes a sweeping declaration that "indigenous peoples" have a right to lands and resources they traditionally occupied or "otherwise used."
"Indigenous peoples have the right to the lands, territories and resources which they have traditionally owned, occupied or otherwise used or acquired," says the U.N. resolution.
The Bush administration had declined to support the resolution.
At the White House Tribal Nations Conference, Obama reminded the group that last year he signed a resolution passed by Congress that “finally” recognizes “the sad and painful chapters in our shared history--a history too often marred by broken promises and grave injustices against the First Americans,” he said.
The president added that “no statement can undo the damage that was done,” but he said the resolution can “help reaffirm the principles that should guide our future.”

There were more tribes than just Cherokee in the Carolinas, we will have to let the tribes fight a war to see who gets the riches of the Carolinas. Maybe whoever wins will let us white folk be sharecroppers or something.
There is a reference to the ancestry of David's royal family ~ and they literally come from everywhere in the world as known in those days.
Of course this means that all the “African Americans” will need to go back to Africa to inherit their rightful lands! I will have to go back to Denmark or somewhere. Those Vikings scattered a lot of bastard offspring around Europe and the British Isles so I don’t know for sure where to go.
The Cherokee in N.C. escaped there to avoid the trail of tears. Most of them(my family included) came from Georgia.
Fur shur the white guys and the Bantus didn’t give the place back to the San people who were there earlier ~ before they turned into just more wild game for black and white invaders.
There have been subsequent movements of people from one place to the other so except for the Sa'ami there probably aren't very many indigenous people living on the lands they first retrieved from the Ice.
For everybody else it's been just one thing after another.
