we are starting to buy milk from New Zealand and even ChinaNew Zealand exports milk solids, a highly processed product. NZ farmers are switching from raising sheep to cows for these milk solids. Environmentalsts should be horrified by this as cows are vastly harder on the environment than grazing sheep. Milk solids are far more profitable than wool or lamb.
When you drink skim milk you are getting a reconstitution of mild solids and water, not just milk with the cream removed.

Even with the November results, the Senate is still at least 20 seats away from having a real conservative majority. There are easily 15 RINO’s still in the GOP caucus, including McConnell, who can be counted on to sell out conservatism at the most inopportune times.
Conservatives need to focus on maintaining a majority in the House, even if that means going to war with their Republican colleagues in the Senate. I’m not sure if the weepy John “Faucet” Boehner is up to the task. A nice man, but if he can’t stand up to McConnell then he will need to be replaced.

Lame duck cannot end fast enough.
To: Weird Tolkienish Figure
The concept of ‘lame duck’ should be abolished...no more legislation between Election Day and early January when the new Congress is seated...

There was also a law passed re: lead in kid's toys. I was over on one of my social/hobbies sites (majority of posters are liberal/"moderate"/apolitical) and someone mentioned Goodwill and similar places as a good way to get Christmas toys for cheap for children too young to appreciate "snob appeal". Several posters said that because of the "lead law" most of the used (and even the Dollar stores, which sell new items) in their areas had quit selling toys entirely. Not *quite* the same as targeting garage sales, but it shows how these laws ARE having a negative impact : It was too expensive to test all "older" used toys (or new merchandise, for the Dollar stores) for lead content, so the cheapest venues for toys just...stopped selling toys. So parents have to go to the more expensive places to buy new toys for Christmas, at least in the areas where those posters live .

Talked to Kay Bailey Hutichison’s office and was told she “didn’t oppose it.” I asked that she be given the message that my husband and I won’t forget her lack of opposition.
Couldn’t get through to Cornyn.

WTF? Whyt is all this garbage passing?
To: RoseyT
I just talked to some young buck in his Tyler office and he stumbled around and said they didn’t know anything and that hey were trying to get information out of Washington....at which time I told him that Cornyn was skating on thin ice with the voters of Texas.....what a crock..passing on unanimous consent. Told him that Cornyn was AWOL by not asking for a voice vote...what a waste that POS is.....

I sit here scratching my head, wondering how a bill like this gets passed, and the phrase “follow the money” comes to mind: every whore has his/her price.

Yup, that’s the stuff we are more than likely going to need before this is over with. Probably a big bunch of black tipped ones too.

There needs to be sunset provisions on all legislation going forward and all previous laws. That way we keen only the laws that are really needed.

I’m beginning to think compromise simply means “screw you”. The lame duck congress and the president are making a concerted effort to destroy the country from the inside out and no one is stopping them. We are a country that values and honors the rule of laws and they are using our own laws against us. It will take years to undo the damage, unless something is done right away. I don’t think anyone even knows for sure what they passed.
