Brett Favre was listed as inactive for the Minnesota Vikings' game against the New York Giants on Monday night -- snapping a legendary run of 297 consecutive starts (321 including playoffs) that dated to his first NFL start on Sept. 20, 1992.
Favre, 41, suffered a sprained sternoclavicular joint near his throwing shoulder on the third play of last weekend's win over Buffalo on a hit from Bills linebacker Arthur Moats. His practice time was extremely limited last week, but as late as Sunday afternoon, Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier said he expected Favre to try throwing before the game.

Time for all to tip their cap to an athletic Ironman. He handled the last few years poorly in his on again off again retirement, but proved in 2009 that he is still an elite. He finished second for MVP. Hopefully we’ll see him in their at least one more time before the end of the year.

Now we know for sure he’ll retire. No more streak to fluff. I said 4 years ago the year in which he finally missed a game would be his last.

No. If that were so, the headline would read “QB questionable:...”

The dome collapse is the second biggest in MN this year after Favre.

I was 10 the last time he didn’t start a game. I have had more than enough Favre drama anyway.

That would have ended his streak for sure.

Like many before him, he clung to his youth, but he did play in 297 straight games in a league that all others average career length is 70 games total.

The hit he took last game looked pretty tough.
Especially on a 41 year old QB.

What were YOU doing in September, 1992???
The last weekend Brett Favre was NOT starting an NFL game??
Think about THAT for just a second....
Hat’s off Brett!
UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVABLE!!!
To: dfwgator
No, they needed their starting QB, who was knocked out because of a concussion.
I think Green Bay is glad to be rid of him and have a real quarterback.

Can’t they just let Brett throw a few interceptions with his good arm?

Hats off Brett!
UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVABLE!!!
I was watching Favre come off the bench to lead the Packers to a come from behind win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
I'm a Bengals fan and I remember watching that game and being upset because the Bengals blew a big lead to lose the game. So I do remember the last football weekend that Favre didn't start at QB.
