As Jewish families all over the country and the world come together to celebrate the festival of lights the miracle of one days worth of oil lasting for eight we are reminded that this holiday is also about the miracle of taking a stand against impossible odds, surviving existential threats, and staying true to ones values and beliefs through it all.
More than two thousand years after the Maccabees rebelled against their oppressors and reconsecrated their Holy Temple, the Jewish people continue to face threats to their existence, and they continue to persevere and overcome great odds. Today we should all recommit ourselves to ensuring that the miracle of a Jewish state endures forever. The dreidel is one of the most familiar symbols of Hanukkah, with Hebrew letters on it representing the phrase Nes Gadol Haya Sham a great miracle happened there. Indeed a great miracle is still happening there. Todd and I wish the Jewish community a very Happy Hanukkah.

1 For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.
3 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
4 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.
5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.
6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,
7 And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
— Isaiah 62:1-7 KJV
Happy Hanukkah. Let the light shine. Praise the Lord.
From your lips . . .As my tagline says - we shouldn't wait for her to run.

Happy Hanukkah...
I love the way Sarah posts on FB!
"taking a stand against impossible odds, surviving existential threats, and staying true to ones values and beliefs through it all. "
Happy Hanukkah! To all of my Jewish friends.

The Israeli’s know that they have a true friend in Sarah.
Nez Godal Hayah Sham!
She is probably the only world leader, other than perhaps Canada’s Harper, who would say something like this.
I’ve hated neocons since the term became popular.
But why does this woman keep convincing me that I should be a neocon? I hate her. I have conceded so many viewpoints already to this woman and she keeps on scoring .........................
Yeah yeah yeah yeah .... OKEY OKEY
Happy Hannukah! to all our American Jewish brothers and to the people of Israel, our friends from abroad.
Shalom aleichem! We re-dedicate ourselves to Him.
Happy Hanukkah!
I appreciate her wishes and am also impressed that she gets the Orthodox nature of Chanukkah.
Reading her post, she clearly has knowledge of the historical events underlying the holiday — something most Reform Jews do not (being that the Reform Jews of 2300 years ago were collaborators with Greems).
I like that - way to go Sarah... Happy Hanukkah all...
Happy Chanukah Yaelle!!
