Dear Friends,
I received an email today from a good friend who is on the ground in Afghanistan. It broke my heart to read this and every time I go back to it, I lose my composure. I fear the average American has no idea what extraordianry sacrifices are made by our military on a daily basis. Keep them in your prayers, they need it.
Exceprts from the email follow:
"Some of you may have seen a news report about 6 American Soldiers killed by an Afghan policeman while on a training mission.
Those were our Soldiers, and included the Platoon Sergeant and 5 others from a group of nine that were at a remote outpost in Pachir Wa Agam district, Nangarhar Province, here near the Pakistan border. The Afghan border policeman opened up at point blank range on my guys as they were adjusting fire to calibrate 155mm RAP (rocket-assisted projectile)artillery rounds.
I'm extraordinarily proud of the 3 survivors as they had to hold their ground, alone, surrounded by upwards of 20 other Afghan Police and Army Soldiers with no idea of who they can now trust. After immediately returning fire and killing the assailant, the three surviving Soldiers secured their position for 30 minutes until another fire team could climb the mountain to reinforce their position. The PSG who was killed, in an extraordinary act of valor, saved his Platoon Leader's life when he put himself in the line of fire between the shooter and his PL, allowing his PL to get to cover safely.
Please keep these American heroes, their families, and the Panther Squadron in your thoughts and prayers.
Tough going for us right now, but we will continue mission, and strengthen our resolve, inspired by the courage and sacrifice of our fallen comrades from among the "Band of Brothers".
Another FReeper reported this yesterday, but indicated the source article was scrubbed.
Tears for those 6 men and may they rest in peace. Prayers for their families. Found out today these men are in the unit of the husband of a friend of mine from high school.
God bless each and every one of them. Such a tragic loss. My heart grieves for their families and their platoon buddies. Heroes all of them.
Thank you. Have their names and home towns been published? I have seen virtually nothing about this in the US press.
Prayers for them and their families.
Warriors. God Bless them all.
And The Messiah's concern is that we accomodate more faggots and dykes, while the REAL men are dying for their country.
Never, never, never, never, never trust a muslim. keep your fat little finger on the trigger at all times.
It happened on Monday.

Nothing specific published yet. Too much bureacracy I imagine.
The only words I can conjure are God bless them.
There might be too much info there? That might be the only reason.
Thank you. I don’t know why this is getting so little attention.
I read this morning that the person who killed them had been on the Afghan police force for 3 years and had never presented any problems. They were all on their way to target practice when he simply turned on them and killed them.
Once upon a time this would have been news, but not anymore, I guess.
Wow. There’s no greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. I’m speechless with tears as I think of how precious those lives were because of what they carried inside, a love and fellowship that considers a friend worth dying for.
I pray for the families of the fallen, peace of mind for the survivors in the battle and especially the one who was saved by the sacrifice of the other, and that they all can know how deeply humbled and moved I and so many others are at their willingness to confront the enemies on our behalf.
So sad. Prayers up.
Get real. Grow up. Stop fantasizing. Your attitude could get a friend killed.
...and do not ever handle a weapon in my presence...
I don't think he was referring to gun safety. It's an old saying ... keep your finger on the trigger. Or, keep your finger on the pulse ...
