Is anybody who filled out the DoD DADT survey surprised at the announcement of its results? The questions made the outcome a foregone conclusion. My question is this: isn't the very fact that those who were most against repeal are the ones who do what militaries are made for - fight - a perfect reason to keep the ban in effect?

yep!
Welcome to the official news headlines of the USSA Most voters want to be groped and/or naked scanned and most soldiers want gays looking at them in the shower.
The DRAFT will HAVE to come back.....GIRLS TOO!! Hope all the lefties are happy about their girls going to war!!
I’m not believing this “survey” for a minute. This is Gates doing his thing for his homosexual brothers and sisters. Gates said homo will do no harm to the military. LOL! Somebody needs to give him a newspaper and tell him to look for the name PFC Bradley Manning. Personally, I don’t think the Pentagon’s budget is going to be able to withstand the homosexuals’ lawsuit assault but, oh well. The voters wanted “hope and change”. They’re about to get what they wished for and it’s going to be too late to stop it.
I agree 100%. Gays in the Military? IF Congress is STUPID enough to push this through And the Pentagon with their panties in a bunch to force the issue—then All I can say is attempted sodomy- just cause to snuff a faggot.
I had to turn off FOX news a little bit ago..
Shep Smith was pretty darn close to needing a Kleenex or a moist towelette to clean himself when he was reporting on this poll.
THAT is what this is, and always has been all about!
Crippling the military by any and all means!
I did not vote for ANY communist/ Democrat in the last election but here in Colorado the queer money of >Gill -
and the union thugs I believe stole a couple of seats.
I believe Buck would have won and Bennett would have been
gone as well had it been an honest election. But in2012—If there still is any pretense at election Once again I will NOT VOTE for any Communist /Democrat. AND I may be a bit more vocal that these elitist godless globalists want America to be third world trash heap of ignorant vandals Maybe a few more mosques will burn? a lot can happen when the government is not of by and for the people.
Watch Freepers attack our soldiers just like liberals do because of this survey.
As I pointed out in a different post. I’m disturbed at the way they are spinning the stats of this report. ONLY 15-20% actually said repealing DADT was a “positive” thing, so in reality only 15-20% were for it. A solid 30% see a repeal a negative, so in reality that 30% are against it. The big “mushy middle” of 50-55% were ambivalent. So, when they say 70% are “for” the repeal of DADT it is a mistatement of truth.
Also, as a reservist that took the survey with my wife, it was a very poorly worded document that didn’t allow the person taking the survey to clearly articulate objections. This is one of the worst pieces of “whitewash” done in military history. The general officers that cooperated in this shame should resign from service for being cowards and not giving the POTUS straight talk instead of placating him.
I know that Senator McCain is no favorite here on FR, I don’t like him much myself. However, on this issue he is telling the rest of congress what I’m saying about this bogus survey. He obviously has been listening to members of the military. Give him credit and backing for that...he gained so new respect from this soldier.
This survey is bogus and should not be taken seriously by members of the Senate that our Republicans....and if their are any sensible Democrats they need to realize this as well.
Bottom line is that the lame duck session of congress should not take on this issue. The language needs to be stricten from the Appropriations Bill. The new congress is the appropriate group to discuss this and act on it.
“Shep Smith was pretty darn close to needing a Kleenex or a moist towelette to clean himself when he was reporting on this poll.”
Did his mascara run?
That is precisely how it was worded: how to make the transition, not whether it’s a good idea. An illegitimate tool for an illegitimate purpose.

“Also, as a reservist that took the survey with my wife, it was a very poorly worded document that didnt allow the person taking the survey to clearly articulate objections.”
Ditto, and ditto. We were both appalled at the way the questions were worded.

After talking with a couple of troops who took the survey they stated it lead the troops to the conclusion it wanted.
As the troops were asked questions on gays - under the now in force DADT - any answers they gave after gays are allowed to serve in the open are nul and void.
“I have also been told that the survey forms were coded so that the respondents could be identified... that is... it was not an anonymous survey so anyone who filled it out can potentially be called to task later on their answers.”
Yes, they were. Although we were told they wouldn’t do so. However, if they will spin the results to make them sound more favorable to repeal of DADT than they actual were, then I guess they could do anything.
