Strategic discussions among team members is different from fundamental debate between antagonists.

But I think you know that already.

There is plenty of room for disagreement. But the point is not to simply disagree, but to further the Constitutional conservative movement. Rancorous, pointless bashing of the people on our own team doesn't help. In fact, it is counter-productive and effects the thousands of people who simply lurk and learn rather than participate in the forum.

But I think you know this already, too.

It might take me a while but I could zip back through some posts of JR we do in fact become stronger through debate. Not that we need him to tell us that, it is a fact but he made clear to some nOOb in the last week or two that we do argue among ourselves but it isn’t personal.

And I am still trying to recall what the subject matter of my posts or the genesis, if you will, that is such a problem for you and paulcy.

You are not the target. I am not sure why you think you are, if you do. I have no issue with you. You joined the discussion and I answered your questions. Earlier in the thread there was a poster named wtc911 (I think) that went, IMO and others, way overboard. We were discussing those posts.

Sorry if we were talking past each other. No offense meant. We are just discussing the general principles of the forum that Jim Rob is trying to make clear on a more and more frequent basis, and that a lot of us agree is necessary.

There is so much conservative bashing, typically but not limited to Sarah Palin, that some of us want to offer resistance to it. That’s what the talk of a ping list is about.

My point is that this site has a goal as expressed by Jim Robinson's mission statement and subsequent threads. This is not a "debate society", according to Jim, if I understand him correctly, and if I understand Jim's posts correctly, this site is intended to promote conservative candidates and issues.

America is suffering 'death by a thousand cuts' and we should know that losing the Presidency for a second term to committed Communists will be the most damning cut of all. If we can spare ourselves; if only by a thousand band-aids/increments; then believe, that is what we do.

Personally do not anticipate such desperate decisions ahead for Repubs; certainly hope/pray not. We have some good, capable possibilities of which Sarah is one. Mitt would never be my choice; but if these Repubs pull him out of the hat - in spite - will vote nonetheless; but not happily. Do hope they are smarter than this.

. (There are, of course, many strange bed 'combos' in politics; Sarah offering that she would be happy to be Mitt's VP; one of the more strange; but she did ride in with McCain, so who knows. . .)
