Sarah Palin: 'We've got to stand with our North Korean allies' (Liberals Are Loving It)

Sarah Palin never claimed she could see Russia from her house – that was Tina Fey – but she went one better on Glenn Beck's radio show in discussing the tensions in the Korean Peninsula and saying: "We've got to stand with our North Korean allies".

A transcript of the radio show reads:

Interviewer: How would you handle a situation like the one that just developed in North Korea?

Palin: Well, North Korea, this is stemming from a greater problem, when we're all sitting around asking, 'Oh no, what are we going to do,' and we're not having a lot of faith that the White House is going to come out with a strong enough policy to sanction what it is that North Korea is going to do. So this speaks to a bigger picture that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policy. But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies – we're bound to by treaty....

Interviewer: South Korean.

Palin: Yes, and we're also bound by prudence to stand with our South Korean allies, yes.

Honestly...you’re making a mountain out of a molehill.

People who speak to the press as much as Sarah does, make occasional verbal slips. It’s a human failing we all share.

Well Fred, it wasn’t Mitt...;)

OK youth, good for you to come out and admit you don’t know who you would support. I don’t think Pawlenty is much of a Conservative from all I’ve read, seen and heard. That leaves you Thune who just voted for cloture of S510 the federalization of the food supply, and your ‘maybe someone else’ category. Hmmm...I guess we all ‘slip up’ now and again, hey youth?

I’ll stick with DeMint, Palin, Paul Ryan (despite convention), and Marco Rubio (as a bit of an outside chance.)

Of course. It's a curious mistake.

My point, intended for the PDS posters, was that even a discussion like this about a slip of the tongue is filled with equivalent errors. I understood your point completely, as well as how you made a mistake that I have made many times for exactly the reasons that you stated. Those trashing Palin would excuse Obama if he made the North/South error. Even I would excuse Obama on that one. While I believe the community organizer hates America and Americans, I don't think he has a North Korean vision for our future, just a close parallel with him or someone like him as Dear Leader.

I whole hearted agree with you. Over the past 30 years, I have heard many a politian speak. It doesn’t matter what side of the political fence they are on. Everyone of them will occasionally and accidently switch words. But to single one person out over that is just plain stupid. They single out Sarah over a single slip of words but they ignore Joe Biden and his NUMEROUS and ONGOING Gaffs. Get real people.

“People who speak to the press as much as Sarah does, make occasional verbal slips. It’s a human failing we all share.”

Perhaps...but she has VERY LITTLE room for those kind of mistakes. It pretty much cost Ford re-election when he said something like Poland was a totally free country (in the 1970s). There is little room for those mistakes, even for someone who was as respected as Ford...there’s a lot less room for Sarah.

I was guessing at youth’s pick, not stating my preference. Posts are laggy here sometimes.

We’re talking about a possible all out war between North and South Korea. This isn’t some trivia about a little football game.

No one puts up this much of a fight over a simple verbal gaffe (which every single one of us has done at one time or another).

No honest conservative would expend so much time and effort attacking Sarah Palin on this website, if they weren't compelled to do so by some hidden agenda or influence.

That you are being compelled to do so, is without question. Only the agenda, or the influence which is driving you, are in question.

Mark my words. A purge is coming. There are far too many of you operatives working overtime to bring down Sarah Palin on this site to be tolerated much longer.

Work fast! Time is short!

Just had an interesting thought about this thing...if libs will now be screaming that Sarah called North Korea an ally, doesn’t that mean they acknowledge North Korea is NOT an ally and have to take a stand (even if in words only) against North Korea? LOL.

Food for thought.

And the context of Sarah’s comments are crytal clear that her intention was NOT to suggest North Korea was an ally.

Big difference between a slip of the tongue (north/south), and stating that Poland was a totally free country imo.

“In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” —on a Kansas tornado that killed 12 people

“One such translator was an American of Haitian descent, representative of the extraordinary work that our men and women in uniform do all around the world — Navy Corpse-Man Christian Brossard.” –mispronouncing “Corpsman” (the “ps” is silent) during a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast, Washington, D.C., Feb. 5, 2010 (The Corpsman’s name is also Christopher, not Christian)

“It was also interesting to see that political interaction in Europe is not that different from the United States Senate. There’s a lot of — I don’t know what the term is in Austrian, wheeling and dealing.” —confusing German for “Austrian,” a language which does not exist, Strasbourg, France, April 6, 2009

“What I was suggesting — you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith...” —in an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, who jumped in to correct Obama by saying “your Christian faith,” which Obama quickly clarified (Watch video clip)

“Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. It will be a strong friend of Israel’s under a McCain...administration. It will be a strong friend of Israel’s under an Obama administration. So that policy is not going to change.” —Amman, Jordan, July 22, 2008

The quote above states that she called the NORKs our allies.

And even when she corrected it, she said “also South Korean...”

I am confident that she knows the difference between north and south Korea, and I understand this was a slip of the tongue.

BUT, a President must mean what they say, and say what they mean.

Now everyone around here is going to say that Obama would get a pass on that. Really? The way the media is starting to smell blood in the water.

The last thing you need is a President that has to be questioned if she really meant to say what she said in a time of crisis.

She gets a pass on this one, but we should make a note of it.

Bad judgment on Joe’s part (MAYBE), but not a mix-up.

Miller did acknowledge that there were "other" things that the East Germans did that he was not referring to.

I remain unconvinced, and will be following young GW's career closely for the next two years. The lights are on, so the Romneybots have scattered for the nonce. As is written in the book of FRed: "They shall deny him thrice, yet continue to trash his opposition."

I am not myself a big Palin supporter. But this whole thing is -- yet again -- much ado about nothing, and I despise supposed conservatives who aid and abet, and that is exactly what the Palin bashers are doing. The template is: "Lefty's smart, we're dumb." One can arrive at this conclusion only by the most outrageous selection bias, yet they're playing along with the Reds anyway. And Young GW's calling Palin supporters "kool aid drinkers" and "dunces" is a vacuous, hate-filled rant and nothing more.

...she has VERY LITTLE room for those kind of mistakes.

I suppose, but she's tough enough, savvy enough, and courageous enough to persevere through whatever criticisms the MSM throws at her.

Sarah's brilliance is in her use of alternate channels of communication to get her message out to the American people. As long as the people are listening, and for as long as she's got an "open mic", the MSM will be powerless to define her. The people will get to know the real Sarah Palin, despite the MSM's best efforts to caricaturize her.
