Any remaining doubts that Sarah Palin is the most media savvy politician out there should have been erased entirely with last week's premiere of her new TLC show Sarah Palin's Alaska (SPAlaska!).
Back in March when rumors that Palin and producer Mark Burnett were shopping a reality show first surfaced speculation that the proposed series would be about Palin's family were quickly shot down. Two weeks ago during a spashy premiere party for the show, hosted by Discovery, the savvy team promoting the show insisted to attendees it would not be political. Of course, within minutes of last week's premiere, in which (blurred out) write Joe McGinniss -- who has rented out the house next door to the Palin's in order to research his new book -- featured prominently, both claims were quickly proven untrue. The show is nothing if not an extended political commericial for (decisive! adventurous!) Sarah Palin, starring her family members, each of whom get their own shout-out in the opening credits.
Conclusion? Essentially Palin has convinced TLC to pay her six figures every week to convince the country she is presidential material (making Mark Burnett her Karl Rove?). Or, at the very least, she possesses the kind of decisive backbone required to stun a Halibut with a billy club (part of last night's mother/daughter day with Bristol) and by extension her political opponents.
The result is apparently enough to convince Frank Rich that she has a shot at being President.
Thanks to the in-kind contribution of this nonpolitical series, Palin neednt join standard-issue rivals like Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Haley Barbour and Tim Pawlenty in groveling before donors and primary-state operatives to dutifully check all the boxes of a traditional Republican campaign. Palin not only has TLC in her camp but, better still, Murdoch.

This article is right on the money. I watched last night's Sarah Palin's Alaska and it was just great and even better than the first one. The previews for the next one looks like its going to be even better.
We enjoyed it very much and it’s all the better because it’s exploding liberal heads. :)
Great for Sarah,
Great for TLC,
Great for the viewers!
Great for America!
[Conclusion? Essentially Palin has convinced TLC to pay her six figures every week to convince the country she is presidential material ]
But she is really stupid and has trouble tying her shoes.
Sarah is very savvy. Through this new program, her family is invited into millions of homes in America and viewers are getting to know them. They’re seeing single mom, Bristol, elder son home from Iraq, handsome hubby, family helping each other.
Should she decide to run for Prez and the media tries to trash the Palin clan again, people are going to react as they would to people trashing their own family and friends.
I’m sure it is exploding some Republican insider’s heads too. No matter how many times Sarah pulls off a brilliant counter-intuitive or rather counter-establishment move they still continue to under estimate her. They are going to under estimate her all the way to the White House.
We enjoyed it as well. We loved Sarah telling Bristol “Don’t back off, reload” (or words to that effect).
How many other candidates get a multi-hour campaign commercial, get a cable station to foot the bill, AND get a seven figure salary for filming it?
Absolutely...I'd like to hear some of their comments, I'm sure they're not pretty. :-)
That was great, I think it was “Never retreat, just reload.” LOL!
Somebody besides me must like it. The ratings were great.
Political Elitists in DC and elsewhere, those that consider themselves the Ruling Class, are quaking in their shoes at the popularity of Sarah Palin with We The People. You know “The Unwashed Masses; the ignorant; those in flyover country, bitter clingers, Bible lovers, etc.” The Ruling Class continue, in their reprehensible arrogance consider each of us “too stupid” to know what is good for us. They know better. In the case of Sarah Palin, they have absolutely no power over how we view her. This series shows the country and the world that Sarah and her family are like us, the Country Class, or so the arrogant Elitists call us. Personally I think this series jabs the enemies of Freedom weekly. Let’s all savor Sarah’s success regardless if she decides to run for President or not.
Sarah has the spine, guts, and cajones to expose the political Elites in this Regime and in this Congress and elsewhere. Sarah gives us a venue to show the Political Elites that they will not do our thinking for us. We The People intend to stay free and we vow to ensure that this country remains the best in the world for our children and grandchildren’s future.
More power to her, at least it is worth more than the millions and millions of the tax payers monet that mac daddy wasted on his worthless see how important I am trip that resulted in nothing except a shopping trip and vacation.
Seems to me that another, past, conservative presidential hopeful took his talents to mass media (radio) to pump up his “political star” power. That was around 1978, or so, I think.
Do you think anyone would watch Mitt’s Massechuttsets?
Loved the Halibut Special last night! And Alaska is breathtakingly beautiful!
Any idea how many of us watched last night?
The jealousy is so thick you can almost touch it.
I thought the show was good. My family watched it together. it is just nice to have family friendly programming on again
