How many other candidates get a multi-hour campaign commercial, get a cable station to foot the bill, AND get a seven figure salary for filming it?

I think that the fact that Sarah is getting paid big bucks for these 8 shows, made millions on her first {and probably her second} book{s] is the top item that is making both libs and many pubbies froth at the mouth.

We know that that rinos fear her and there are many on FR, that have an irrational contempt for her. These FR naysayers usually start like this, "I love Sarah, BUT, .......... {you can fill in the blank, since we've all seen it too many times}.

I normally jump into those posts but they are wearing me out, and there is no changing of their minds.

How many other candidates could produce something which is as genuinely interesting and fun to watch? FWIW, we upgraded our cable service specifically to see this series.

As for political remarks, this series has less of it than your average 30 minute M*A*S*H episode.

I'd say the key word is "candidate," and the answer would be Reagan.

Many people had media careers before announcing their candidacy for high office.

Recently, John Kasick (a former Representative) hosted a weekend show of FNC for several years, and occasionally guest hosted until he announced his candidacy for Governor of Ohio.

J.D. Hayworth (a former Representative) had a daily radio show until he announced his candidacy for Senator from Arizona.

Arnold Schwarzenegger had a thriving movie career before he announced his candidacy for Governor of California.

Ronald Reagan had a successful movie career, followed by a TV and radio career before he announced his candidacy for Governor of California.

Palin is just the latest, albiet during a time of greater media diversity.

How many other candidates could make a multi-hour campaign commercial that people will TUNE IN TO WATCH so much so that it SELLS advertisements rather than being bought and paid for AS an advertisement?

TLC is going to make out just fine with the arrangement, so the argument that it is some sort of “contribution in kind” is crazy talk. It is a mutually beneficial arrangement, a ‘win-win’ scenario.
