Recently, John Kasick (a former Representative) hosted a weekend show of FNC for several years, and occasionally guest hosted until he announced his candidacy for Governor of Ohio.
J.D. Hayworth (a former Representative) had a daily radio show until he announced his candidacy for Senator from Arizona.
Arnold Schwarzenegger had a thriving movie career before he announced his candidacy for Governor of California.
Ronald Reagan had a successful movie career, followed by a TV and radio career before he announced his candidacy for Governor of California.
Palin is just the latest, albiet during a time of greater media diversity.
