Nothing else.
Look, you are defending your decision. I am trying to explain that your actions are not going to garner wild support for Palin. We discuss issues here, and that’s all I’m doing.
It doesn’t really surprise me that you would urge me to leave this forum for having a different opinion, but it does reveal how thin skinned some of you are.
Later...
Look this is just one man’s opinion, but I don’t think you garner the support for your candidate you think you will by doing this. Some neutral people are going to be completely turned off over this.
BTW, all you folks out there that like the idea of backing Bristol because of who her mom is, how would you have liked it if she had danced superbly at the beginning of the season, and had been voted off by the Moveon.org types?
Wouldn’t that have been consummately unfair? Well, isn’t it unfair for our side to vote off other well-qualified dancers too?
Independents and potential Reagan (type) Democrats watch this program too. Do you really want to tweak them as well?
Later...
Look, whether you like the show or not, you think the show is low class or an unworthwhile enterprise, there are a lot of folks watching the program. Some of those folks are independents, potential Reagan (type) Democrats, and even Republicans who haven’t gone Palin yet.
Can’t you see that this sort of thing could become a very big turn-off to them?
Since when does thinking this is a problem, eliminate the possibility that someone could be concerned about shenanigans at the polls too?
People spend a lot of money to put positive spots on television to increase the popularity of their candidate. Doesn’t it dawn on any of you that this could cost your candidate support? Doesn’t it dawn on you that people could possible see this as extremely unfair?
Seriously, is there no downside to gaming a situation like this? Well, I think you’re wrong. I think this could get very ugly for your candidate, and while you think I’m not being fair, I may be the one who is advocating best for your candidate on this issue.
Thanks MaggieCarta. You raised some good points there.
Hey! LOL...
Actually, I thought you would be reamed a lot worse than you were....... Darn it!
LOL!!
Thanks. No, Bristol isn’t a Star, and I would argue she’s hardly a celebrity either, but I do get your point and it’s a decent one.
Perhaps it should be “Dancing With People I May or May Not Have Heard of Before”. ;^)
And that's the problem. It's not about Bristol, it's about her mother. I'm sorry, but I feel sorry for Bristol. I mean, there's a chance she could win, and IF she does, she will be ridiculed, for a long time. I'm sure she's already embarrassed and tired of trying to explain to people why she's still there. Even though Sarah has nothing to do with this other than be there supporting her daughter, she will also be excoriated. This has gotten way out of hand.
In the past seasons less talented competitors, no matter how likeable, were let go at some point, but I fear this may end in Bristol winning the competiton, and for the wrong reasons. I'm done, I won't watch next week.
Thank you for your post. These people are actually bragging about stuffing the ballot box. Unbelievable. :(
That makes two of us. Darn it? Heeeeeeyyyyy... ;^)
I’m not a regular viewer of the show. I’ve never seen a complete episode. However, my wife is a regular viewer.
I asked her if she would continue to watch the show if Bristol won. She said she would, but she hopes they never invite politically connected people again.
I sympathize with you. Conservatives shouldn’t be stuffing ballot boxes.
Get a grip. Stuffing ballot boxes? This isn't an election, it's an entertainment contest and it's perfectly legit to vote as many times as you want. Surely you don't think only conservatives vote multiple times. I hate to burst your bubble, but liberals have the same opportunities.
Thanks for a fine post, D1.
These people are hypocrites. They’re bragging about stuffing the ballot box! It will be difficult to listen to them the next time they complain about voter fraud.
And the beautiful “right kind of people” will remain in charge of government and pop culture.
It is kind of an organic thing that cannot be controlled by the liberals, for the moment.
You know, the unwashed are using their allowed votes to show who is their favorite on a game/dance show.
Things will get back to normal...the Oscars will still ignore screenplays, actors, movies, who are to the right of their worldview, Pulitzers will still be denied to right of center authors, same with Nobel prizes and rightwing journalists, magazines and newspapers.
And all will be calm and right with the world again!
.
> “She moves on to the final 3 couples.”
But probably to no avail, because on the last vote only the three judges get to vote.
.
> “A better dancer leaves tonight.”
.
A point not in evidence on the show!
.
That's not the point. The point is that people here are voting for her multiple times because she's Sarah Palin's daughter, and not because of her dancing ability. I know they'll claim otherwise, of course.
You know, perhaps they’re right.
Next year MLB should allow people to vote on who they think should have won each World Series game.
Regardless of the score, the team to get the most votes wins.
Who cares if one team doesn’t score more than one point and the other doesn’t score less than ten points per game.
And then we can make analogies to Left vs Right and all will be perfect in the world of baiseball.
You know what though, there’ll always be one guy or gal out there who will complain, using the old worn out line, “I think the team with the most talent should win.” Losers!
.
> “I really dont wanna see Derek win again.”
.
But his partner is the best dancer of all of them.
