Leaders in the African American and Latino communities? Please! They are the problem. These are dysfunctional cultures and they need to get this message out. Character matters. Work matters. School matters. What these communities are doing is killing themselves, and too often their leaders see the situation as a way to enrich themselves (Sharpton, Jackson, etc.)
Many of the murderers are in government (democrat party) public housing at taxpayer expense.

Does the article bother to mention the actual demographic composition of the city? Does the author admit that even though the ethnic makeup of those arrested is not representative of the population, it is representative of the crimes committed? Does the author draw any inferences from the coincidental fact that the rankings of criminality happens to coincide with ... something measurable but politically incorrect?
Wow, the statistics mirror the unwed mother statistics. But the party of Slavery tells us that we should pay women to be single mothers with welfare; we should have no-fault divorce; we should have gay marriage because women can be just as good as a father as a man.

All of society has an obligation to ensure that its citizens can live their lives in peace and security. The police are doing their job. Leaders in the African American and Latino communities have struggled to do their part, as well. Myriad organizations exist in New York City and across the country to steer the wayward on a better path and to protect potential victims from those who violently veer off it. But new alliances must be formed between the two to get guns off the streets and to break the "stop snitching" culture that allows cases to go unsolved, criminals to go free and communities to cower in fear. It's time to stop being speechless and feeling powerless. It's time the hunted fought back.

The problem with his scenario is that non-whites just don't seem to be as interested in murder and mayhem, probably in part because they are more likely to face justice.
This was obviously written by a damned racist! Anything that portrays our brown brethren in a negative light, even when supported with overwhelming proof, is considered racist. It doesn’t matter that blacks comprise a small fraction of the population yet commit the vast majority of crimes. The facts are racist! Damned racist facts! I’m sure someone, somewhere is “offended”. Damned offensive truth! Vile, vile truth! Until someone in the black community wakes up and says “this is not how my people should live” then the black culture will consider to degrade further. The problem is that they are not arresting enough whites for violent crimes.
