...Check out these statistics from the "Crime and Enforcement Activity in New York City" report for the first six months of 2010.
Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter victims are most frequently Black (67.0%) or Hispanic (28.1%). White victims account for (3.2%) of all Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter victims while Asian/Pacific Islanders account for (1.8%) of all Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter victims.
The Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter arrest population is similarly distributed. Black arrestees (53.8%) and Hispanic arrestees (36.4%) account for the majority of Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter arrestees while White arrestees (7.1%) and Asian/Pacific Islander (2.2%) arrestees account for the remaining portions of the Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter arrest population.
Shooting victims are most frequently Black (73.8%) or Hispanic (22.1 %). White victims account for an additional (2.6%) of all Shooting victims while Asian/Pacific Islanders victims account for (1.2%) of all Shooting Victims.
The Shooting arrest population is similarly distributed. Black arrestees (70.9%) and Hispanic arrestees (25.8%) account for the majority of Shooting arrest population. White arrestees (2.5%) and Asian/Pacific Islander (0.9%) account for the remaining portion of the Shooting arrest population.
In short, 95.1 percent of all murder victims and 95.9 percent of all shooting victims in New York City are black or Hispanic. And 90.2 percent of those arrested for murder and 96.7 percent of those arrested for shooting someone are black and Hispanic. I don't even know where to begin to describe the horror I still feel looking at those numbers. But the word "hunted" comes to mind.

He wants to get out of the Job he changed the rules to get last year because things are not going well. The article did not specifically mention an increase of 15% in the murder rate. Is that for this year?
Yep ... Same with Washington, Chicago, LA etc.
Contra the original author, the problem isn't guns. The problem is bad people. One doesn't counter "bad people" by banning guns, but by empowering "good people". Most of the article actually addressed the "bad people" issue. The gun thing stuck out like a sore thumb.
IT’S RACIST TO POINT OUT THE TRUTH! STOP IT!!
eyep
Last stats I saw for the USA was that over 60% of murder victims were themselves criminals with an average of 5 arrests
My FRiend, you have stumbled upon a great truth: the Hate Fact.
A Hate Fact is considered racist and bad even though it is supported by overwhelming evidence. Careers can be destroyed by a simple utterance of a Hate Fact, and they must be avoided at all costs.
Odd... that’s not the way they showed it on Law & Order.
The problem is that they are not arresting enough whites for violent crimes.
Good definition, I like that.
It will never happen.
States like Montana, N. Dakota, Iowa and Utah have more guns per capita than NYC and the murder rate is much lower.
Crime is pretty high in welfare districts no matter what color of skin the recipients have.
Outside of FREEREPUBLIC, you are right! But inside, we discuss what the PC crowd won't to their detriment, not ours.
Don't think they aren't working on a way to 'equalize' it.
If white victims are only 3+%, yet white arrestees are >7.0% - is that basically saying that if you are white and commit a crime, you are twice as likely to be arrested???
We at FREEREPUBLIC are not tied down by the same constraints and speak out mind.
I pity him but won't waste my time reading him again.
Cities have their advantages but in my opinion the disadvantages such as liberalism and a resulting high crime rate far out weigh any advantages. I'll never live in a city again.
I lived in D.C. for 4 years in the mid 60s and it was a stinking s*** hole then, I understand that it has only gotten worse since then and I never would have thought that possible at the time.
I live in a small town (population about 1600), have lived in the same house for about 20 years and have never had anything stolen from me. But yes, I do still lock my doors at night and have a .357 close at hand, because even in small towns, bad things do occasionally happen. I've always liked the Boy's Scouts motto, "be prepared".
He would not be gainfully employed(I refuse to call what he does 'work') at the Washington Post if he did.
How can someone otherwise so smart, be so stupid?
From my Twitter account:
There is no error so monstrous that it fails to find defenders among the ablest men. Lord Acton.
The Lutherans, Mormons, and Episcopalians just won’t keep slaughtering each other!
