NEW YORK (CBS 2) Did you see it? Chopper 2 HD sure did.
It was a bizarre, glowing red-hot streak in the sky right at sunset Wednesday moving briskly behind the Manhattan skyline.
CBS 2 reached out to a top astronomer who looked at the video. He said it looks beautiful, but that is was like nothing more than whats known as a contrail condensation from a commercial or military jet.
The aliens, apparently, are not coming.

Weather balloon, propelled by swamp gas.
We might be going through a sizeable debris cloud right now...
Back in the 60’s it would have been “swamp gas”
Look at the trees in the foreground early in the video. The speed they pass by matches the speed of the the “object.” I would guess an optical illusion as the helicopter is moving in the same direction. Almost appears to be some thing on the lens, though the object does appear to go behind the Empire State building. Hard to tell because the tower is very narrow at the point where the object passes by.
Well, it’s not terrorism.................
It looks like a blimp in turbo-boost mode.
LOL, you might be on to sumpin’.
The CBS locals may have found a new optical trick to keep the masses distracted.
Looked like a meteorite to me. But I am no expert.
Inagodadavida?
No, it must be another ICBM flying over our country. They are everywhere, and we can’t stop them.
We saw some strange lights in the sky about 4AM the other morning. There were 2 objects with red and green blinking lights. Too low for airplanes and there was no sound. If it had been planes, there should have been sound. They were pretty low.
My 3rd cousins college roommates moose-bitten sister wrote on her Facebook that her Uncle Freddy tweeted he saw it and its for real a plane - it was right after someone moved his cheese while he was in the shower and his beeber was in the shop from too much stunning. And he was logged in too.
Are they matching its speed and keeping the camera stationary or is the camera panning? It looks like it could go either way to me.
“The sun has a host...”
-classy green eyed blond-
I was wondering if it could be sunlight... it was at sunset. Perhaps,a sunbeam cutting between some buildings just happened to illuminate a lingering contrail??
It could appear to move as the sun moved down. I’ve seem some strange things like that in the mountains...
You need to review grade-school astronomy...
Aircraft at Mach 5? I don’t think so.
LOL. You're joking right? "red and green..." Surely you wouldn't suppose that UFOs try to be FAA compliant....
The next recurring meteor shower is the Leonids on November 17-18...
Thanks!
