Swing Voters Are Flocking to GOP
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 10-30-10 | PETER WALLSTEN AND NEIL KING JR.

The Democrats' final push to woo undecided voters appears to have fizzled, potentially putting dozens of competitive House races beyond reach and undermining the party's chances in at least four toss-up Senate seats, according to party strategists and officials.

Independents, a crucial swing bloc, seem to be breaking sharply for Republicans in the final days of the campaign.

One nonpartisan prognosticator, Stuart Rothenberg, said Friday he thought the Republicans could pick up as many as 70 House seats—something no party has achieved since 1948. The Republicans need 39 seats to take the majority. Fading Democratic support among independents is also keeping alive the GOP's longer-shot hopes of taking the Senate.

Why don’t they run some ads accusing a Republican of worshipping Aqua Buddha? That will fire up the base of good Democrats fearful of the wrath of Aqua Buddha.

It just cracks me up every time I hear or think about that story - lol!

The Democrats' final push to woo undecided voters

Wait. You mean all that "get in the back of the bus, bitch, whore, witch, and kneel before the wrath of your enemies" was trying to woo undecided voters?

What will the Dems be like when they're surly and drunk?

“Whayt the hell is wrong with wva?”

My hope is that in several states union members are saying they will vote Democratic when polled and then will vote Republican (Reagan Republicans and their heirs). I realize the members of public employee unions are unlikely to do this; however, other union members may be intending to vote Republican, but be afraid that a so-called pollster is really a Union official checking on them.

There is enough thuggery and other bad acting going on that I would not be willing to tell a “pollster” I was voting Republican if I were a union menmber.

If it’s a rout on the east coast as the results come in, it could influence turnout in the west where the polls are still open. If this is the case, hopefully Republicans will still come out and vote even if Dems think it’s a lost cause.

"it could influence turnout in the west where the polls are still open."

Wasn"t there some attempt at fixing that problem? Maybe at the news reporting level?

Oh yes, they'll fix that problem. Since this time it's the Democrats whose ox could be gored by it . . .
'Course in any case, GOTV efforts on the West Coast might be less affected by the time zone effect when it's not a case of people really planning to vote for POTUS, with congressional races being an afterthought rather than the main event.
