The Democrats' final push to woo undecided voters appears to have fizzled, potentially putting dozens of competitive House races beyond reach and undermining the party's chances in at least four toss-up Senate seats, according to party strategists and officials.
Independents, a crucial swing bloc, seem to be breaking sharply for Republicans in the final days of the campaign.
One nonpartisan prognosticator, Stuart Rothenberg, said Friday he thought the Republicans could pick up as many as 70 House seatssomething no party has achieved since 1948. I’m starting to wonder how many Dems are just going to say “Screw it” on election day and stay home.
Why don’t they run some ads accusing a Republican of worshipping Aqua Buddha? That will fire up the base of good Democrats fearful of the wrath of Aqua Buddha.
Or, why don’t they find a useful idiot on a daytime women’s yakfest TV show to call a Republican the “B” word? That too should fire up the base of liberals afraid of “B”s being elected to the Senate.
Why not send the president out to say that he wants to send Republicans to ride in the back of the bus?
I’m sure these Democrats can think of something to attract support.

I think more than a few Dems are going to say “I’m tired of being screwed...I’m voting Republican”.
The privacy of the voting booth is a powerful thing.
