The Democrats' final push to woo undecided voters appears to have fizzled, potentially putting dozens of competitive House races beyond reach and undermining the party's chances in at least four toss-up Senate seats, according to party strategists and officials.
Independents, a crucial swing bloc, seem to be breaking sharply for Republicans in the final days of the campaign.
One nonpartisan prognosticator, Stuart Rothenberg, said Friday he thought the Republicans could pick up as many as 70 House seatssomething no party has achieved since 1948. The Republicans need 39 seats to take the majority. Fading Democratic support among independents is also keeping alive the GOP's longer-shot hopes of taking the Senate.

I’m starting to wonder how many Dems are just going to say “Screw it” on election day and stay home.
To: GOP_Lady
Why don’t they run some ads accusing a Republican of worshipping Aqua Buddha? That will fire up the base of good Democrats fearful of the wrath of Aqua Buddha.
Or, why don’t they find a useful idiot on a daytime women’s yakfest TV show to call a Republican the “B” word? That too should fire up the base of liberals afraid of “B”s being elected to the Senate.
Why not send the president out to say that he wants to send Republicans to ride in the back of the bus?
I’m sure these Democrats can think of something to attract support.

Did they really think it would be anything else?

I don’t know about other places, but at the poll I’m working in N. Texas, blacks are turning our fairly heavy. They are being neutralized by the Vietnamese who vote mostly R.

At this point the Dems are just praying they'll stay home.

I think more than a few Dems are going to say “I’m tired of being screwed...I’m voting Republican”.
The privacy of the voting booth is a powerful thing.

I'm guessing quite a few. If the Dems were in the position the GOP is in right now, lots of Pubbie voters would just say "what's the point" and just not vote.
