FAIRBANKS -- A judge ruled today that the Fairbanks North Star Borough must release personnel records of Senate candidate Joe Miller.

In an unusual Saturday hearing, retired Superior Court Judge Winston Burbank ruled that the public's right to know about candidates outweighed Miller's right to privacy.

Burbank ordered no release until at least Tuesday, however, to allow Miller to appeal the decision to the Alaska Supreme Court. Some of the documents will be redacted, he said.

The case was brought by a group of Alaska news media organizations, who have been trying since summer to see borough documents concerning Miller's employment as a part-time borough attorney.

Miller, the Republican nominee, fought the release, arguing that any release of personnel records violated his privacy rights

Among the documents being sought are details of his resignation from the job last year, and any disciplinary actions taken against him while employed. Separate lawsuits were brought by the Alaska Dispatch and Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. The Daily News and Associated Press joined, and the suits were combined. Among the arguments for release was that the state Supreme Court, in earlier cases, has ruled that candidates for office expose their private lives to public scrutiny.

Miller should be held to the same srutiny as Barack Obama, the President, the man who holds the highest office in the land.

By this time I'd say he's had ten times the level of scrutiny applied to him as BO.

I say we immediately sue before this judge for Obama's birth records and college records.

Hey, if it is important for a Senator, then it is critical for POTUS. Too bad that is a state and not a Federal judge/

People were trying to get this information about Obama while he was still a senator, and a candidate.

As always with liberals, the rules only apply to everyone....else.

Hawaii’s own sunshine law says the same thing ...

§92F-14 Significant privacy interest; examples. (a) Disclosure of a government record shall not constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy if the public interest in disclosure outweighs the privacy interests of the individual.

BTW, that could be a good thing IF we could get Andy Martin going to Alaska instead of Hawaii and be able to present the release of all Baracka Hussein Abu Amama’s sealed records in front of this “retired”(?) judge. Amama did it in Illinois when running for the U.S. Senate!!!

Miller is an incredibly strong candidate, which is why they are trying to take him down.

Look at it, not only is he fighting the democrats, but Murkowski. That’s a 2:1 advantage for the Marxists, and he’s still dominating.

If I were him, I’d make the issue plain and simple, that the records would first be released to him (they are his records and he has a right to them), before they are released to the public.

Publish everything you can get about the judge. Let him enjoy the same quality of privacy he chooses to inflict for political purposes.
