Obama has been hiding his real agenda: Sounds far-fetched, but he's the "Radical-in-Chief."
The Minneapolis/St. Paul Star-Tribune ^ | October 23, 2010 | Katherine Kersten

Posted on 10/23/2010 5:05:01 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

In the heady days of 2008, Americans warmed quickly to the prospect of Barack Obama as our 44th president. Obama promised to be just what our fractured nation needed -- a non-ideological, post-partisan consensus builder, guided by mainstream pragmatic thinking.

When the story broke about Obama's relationship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright -- his pastor for 20 years, a "black-power" radical and a fan of Fidel Castro -- we raised our eyebrows. We did the same when we heard of Obama's longtime connection to Bill Ayers, an unrepentant former Weather Underground terrorist. But Obama blew these relationships off as exaggerated or unimportant, and we trusted his assurances.

Now a new book by Stanley Kurtz -- a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and a Harvard PhD -- reveals why we should have probed the disconnect when we had a chance. Americans increasingly sense we were sold a bill of goods, and Kurtz explains why in "Radical-in-Chief: Barack Obama and the Untold Story of American Socialism." Our president isn't what he claims to be, says Kurtz. Obama's plummeting approval ratings, and the electoral tsunami about to hit Democrats, reflect voters' sense of betrayal.

In fact, Kurtz goes further, and makes an electrifying charge: Obama has purposely disguised what he believes, and is actively seeking to mislead the American people about his agenda. Obama, says Kurtz, is a socialist. He believes -- not in state ownership -- but in a savvier version of socialism that seeks to transform and undermine American capitalism through ever-expanding government control; irreversible entitlements; and a metastasizing public sector...

Thanks for serving our country. I fear Obama’s hate
and distain will never be overcome, and that he will
finally lash out and create a real hell on earth.
May Divine Providence guide our selves and our prosperity
through these trying times.

Holy mackerel!!! These dumb bastards are just now figuring this out? It's worse than I thought.

Look on the bright side. Someone is finally trying to get it right, and in fact it's Stanley Kurtz, a well-known brand name in political journalism, who's throwing down on Magic Negro and his backstabbing left-wing cabal.

Katherine Kersten is and has been the lone voice of sanity at the Mpls “Red” Star.

Too many are jumping to incorrect conclusions, she is one of us.

I noticed that the comments in favor of the article were either thoughtful or polite opinion whereas those against were outright abusive. For me personally, the best was the defense that he "went to Harvard." (a) Can I see those records to assess whether he was any good while at Harvard, and (b) Separate argument: Harvard is an 'Elites Mill' turning out people who believe that they can and should rule the world whereas experience has proved that they should not.

Again, it was an honor to serve my country. The outstanding people you work with and the experiences you have really bring to life the words Dorothy said in The Wizard of Oz, “There's no place like home!”

I'm so far to the right, I'm writing myself in as county coroner November 2nd, 'cuz the only one on the ballot for it here is a Dimocrat (perfect for stealing the pennies off a dead man's eyes). Besides, I had a dozen hours of Bio in College, and my brother-in-law can field clean a buck like nobody's business, so I figure between the two of us, I can probably say convincingly, "Yup. Looks like he died of a gunshot wound."

Feel free to write me in if you're in my district.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

“Much to learn from Chile.. on what Pinochet failed to do.. He didnt clean up the colleges.. even now American republicans send their children to college to get brain washed with socialism and other political diseases.. “

I’ve been thinking about that, and about Argentina’s noble war (what the leftards call “the dirty war.”)

Some fairly strong measures were employed in both cases, but the forces of evil came roaring back as soon as the men in charge stepped down. Remember when they were trying to take Pinochet back to Chile to be tried for crimes against communism?

So, how hard do you have to hit to put leftism out of the game permanently? Does one have to jail or execute each and every leftist in the country, and seal the borders against others coming in?

Just how is it that he hid his agenda? Did the writer not check out his voting record?

Should there be any doubt now, perhaps a quick comparison between the ideas of Thomas Jefferson on debt and deficits versus those of Obama might clue some of these folks in to his real agenda.

"To preserve [the] independence [of the people,] we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses, and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they now do, on oatmeal and potatoes, have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. ME 15:39

"I deem [this one of] the essential principles of our government and consequently [one] which ought to shape its administration:... The honest payment of our debts and sacred preservation of the public faith." --Thomas Jefferson: 1st Inaugural, 1801. ME 3:322

"I sincerely believe... that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity under the name of funding is but swindling futurity on a large scale." --Thomas Jefferson to John Taylor, 1816. ME 15:23

"[With the decline of society] begins, indeed, the bellum omnium in omnia [war of all against all], which some philosophers observing to be so general in this world, have mistaken it for the natural, instead of the abusive state of man. And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression." --Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. ME 15:40

In his own First Inaugural, Jefferson listed the principles by which his Administration would be guided. He concluded by advising future generations that should we wander away from them, we should return to them as the only path which "leads to peace, liberty, and safety."

Obama supporters might take note.

I’m not familiar with the author or her views, but she’s reporting about Kurtz’s book, this isn’t an op-ed.

But I find it fascinating that the Minn Red-Star Trib allowed the word tsunami to be used relating to November 2.

The average Chilean allowed that mess to happen..

Allende ran several times before he lucked out and got a third party to split the opposition vote. He won with a plurality, not a majority. Then it only took him five or six months to totally destroy their economy.

If I remember correctly, Allende is still dead. That's a proper coup.

Five years later, at least, whole families would come to the seaports when American ships visited, to thank "us" for saving them from communism.

RJL is right, Kirsten is a conservative columnist in Deep Blue Mpls Red Star & Sickle. It’s fun to read the Letters to the Editor the day after a column like this. The local lefties freak out big-time — as others noticed the liberals spew hatred in response to most Katherine Kirsten columns, and for some reason (hmmmm...) the ST always prints more than one of the vitriolic flames in response to her columns.

Strong work, Katherine!

(BTW their letters to the editor section is hilarious— lots of whiny lefties, and the editors lean way left in their selections, except for a token conservative response — 1 per day max.)

You can tell reading the comments that this newspaper is located in a deep blue state.

Lots of displeasure, but no attempts to confute or gainsay. Kurtz scored.

Well, that's part of a separate conversation, but the point of your question is that the Left came back on the Argentine and Chilean military "protectors of the constitution/state" (an army concept they have in Latin America that we reject in the U.S.), whereas in Indonesia they didn't, after Col. Suharto and his junta secretly executed over 800,000 PKI cadre over a period of months (bodies were floating in the Flores, Andaman, Java, and Philippine Seas for months).

I don’t understand how anyone 2 years ago, dismissed Obama’s sitting in Rev. Wright’s church for 20 YEARs...listening to the hate and bile he spewed...Obama must have believed it, if not, he could have walked out. That and his association with Ayers. Any other Presidental candidate with these associations would have been drummed out of the race.....but we know why he wasn’t.....the left protected him, his background, his little or no experience. And we are paying for it....
