Yesterday NPR fired me for telling the truth. The truth is that I worry when I am getting on an airplane and see people dressed in garb that identifies them first and foremost as Muslims.
This is not a bigoted statement. It is a statement of my feelings, my fears after the terrorist attacks of 9/11 by radical Muslims. In a debate with Bill OReilly I revealed my fears to set up the case for not making rash judgments about people of any faith. I pointed out that the Atlanta Olympic bomber -- as well as Timothy McVeigh and the people who protest against gay rights at military funerals -- are Christians but we journalists dont identify them by their religion.
And I made it clear that all Americans have to be careful not to let fears lead to violation of anyones constitutional rights, be it to build a mosque, carry the Koran or drive a New York cab without fear having your throat slashed. Bill and I argued after I said he has to take care in the way he talks about the 9/11 attacks so as not to provoke bigotry.
This was an honest, sensitive debate hosted by OReilly. At the start of the debate Bill invited me, challenged me to tell him where he was wrong for stating the fact that Muslims killed us there, in the 9/11 attacks. He made that initial statement on the ABC program, "The View," which caused some of the co-hosts to walk off the set. They did not return until OReilly apologized for not being clear that he did not mean the country was attacked by all Muslims but by extremist radical Muslims.

Actually, I think it will probably help NPR fundraising. Anyone liberal enough to give money to NPR prolly hated Juan going over to Fox News to opine.
Comrade Williams, after your years at NPR, you should be well versed with what is acceptable speech and what is unacceptable speech. After your years as a journalist, you should be aware that the Westboro “Baptist” Church is an unaffiliated group that’s run by a leftist lawyer and Al Gore supporter who attempts to slander Christianity through his actions.
If you want to make a liberal/communist/progressive/socialist/democrat angry, just tell them the truth..................
When these rag heads show up at an airport with their garb on it makes people nervous.
What if I where to show up dragging a giant wooden cross around the airport? The rag heads would probably file a lawsuit.
SCREW THEM!
Your liberal, Juan. But just not liberal enough.
I have always liked Juan, even though I have disagreed with him many times. Lately, on FNS, he has been too much of an apoplogist for the current administration. But he seems like a good, fair man, generally speaking. Perhaps there was a good reason for me to like him, after all....
LOL, my thoughts exactly, he has been mugged, he is now a conservative.
Why is everyone so concerned about Dumbazz lefty Juan? Someone should tell Juan that when you lie down with dogs expect to get fleas. He is a fool and repeats the Lefty lies about the Atlanta Olympic bomber & Timothy McVeigh. We have no idea who set off the bomb @ the Atl Olympics as well as McVeigh was not a Christian. Matter of fact, I think there is a real possibility that both of these acts had Muslim terrorism involvement.
This is so odd. On Saturday October 23 2010 myself and 79 others whom seriously injured at the Marine Barracks in Lebanon will remeber those of our fellow comrades who fell by a coward who blow up the barracks with tnt laden truck in a civil war in Lebanon. 3 months later the US withdrew its troops.
So Juan Williams speaks the truth - objective truth no longer matters - it is the subjective that means the most today Everything has been turned on its head. George Sorry ass gives millions to NPR and other liberal organizations to spread the political correctness.
Tough Crap for Political Correctness George Sorryass must be arrested in placed in prison.
Just like the sorry excuse for the pissant in the Whine House
On Saturday I spend the time alone
You are right and everyone that boards a plane thinks the same thing...when flying to Alaska, I whispered to my Son-in-law that there were 3 people I was keeping my eye on and he laughed and said he was watching 4.....Muslims better get use to it, based on their past behavior....
I’d like to see Juan and Whoopie mud wrestle over this.
She is also sorry NPR did this while most public radio stations are in the middle of their fall pledge drives.
DEFUND NPR!!! Geeze, how many times to we have to re-visit this! Pull the plug and let them fall into the sink hole they belong in.
“I pointed out that the Atlanta Olympic bomber — as well as Timothy McVeigh and the people who protest against gay rights at military funerals — are Christians but we journalists dont identify them by their religion.”
Wrong. Journalists go out of their way to identify them as Christians when it suits their purpose, but Christians know them by their rotten fruit. Are so-called moderate muslims willing say the same about terrorists who identify themselves as muslims?
BTW, just what is a moderate muslim anyway - just a little bit into sharia law and jihad on infidels?
For that matter, neither was Eric Rudolph.
Those smears make me want to riot in the streets! Oh, wait, I'm a Christian, so they don't.
He was fired for telling the truth. That does say something about why he was employed by them for so long. Sorry Juan, should have just kept telling lies.
But, Juan, I don't recall those terrorists killing in the name of "Christianity"?
DUH JUAN, you dumbass -
that’s what’s at the core of leftism, liberalism, and especially political correctness -
punishing truth telling.
And we have every right to boycott his employer....
I asked why she would fire me without speaking to me face to face and she said there was nothing I could say to change her mind, the decision had been confirmed above her, and there was no point to meeting in person. To say the least this is a chilling assault on free speech. The critical importance of honest journalism and a free flowing, respectful national conversation needs to be had in our country. But it is being buried as collateral damage in a war whose battles include political correctness and ideological orthodoxy.
Methinks "above her" could easily be as high as the Illegal himself, with his well-known love for Mudslimes, hatred for America and Americans, and total contempt for the First Amendment.
There are a few over at DU who are defending him. But, as always, they are being pushed aside by the rabid crazies.
This is an interesting read. Juan certainly blows the roof off the NPR playhouse, lol!
