Robert Schulz of Fort Ann, advocate for the Constitution and leader of the We the People Foundation, says a recent Time magazine cover story mischaracterizes him and his organization and mistakenly links him to militias.
The story, "Locked and Loaded, The Secret World of Extreme Militias," ran as the cover story for the magazine's Oct. 11 edition.
The story, written by Barton Gellman, names Schulz as one of the philosophers of the antigovernment movement who "are edging their followers closer to violence."
The story calls Schulz "an influential voice among militia groups" and says he "has reached the brink of calling for war."
Schulz, who advocates nonviolent protest, calls the story "clearly false."
"I don't know any militia organizations. I don't communicate with any that I know of," he said.
Last year, Schulz said, he spoke to groups in 88 cities in all 50 states and not one was a militia.
"They've never called me, never asked me to speak," he said.
The We the People Foundation's e-mail list includes more than 80,000 addresses, he said, and he doesn't know every person on the list. But the characterization of him as a grassroots leader on the verge of advocating violent rebellion is wrong, he said.
The article mentions vigils that Schulz staged in Washington, D.C., in which he and some of his followers dressed in the costume of the character "V" from the movie "V for Vendetta," mentioning that, in the final scene, the British Parliament building erupts in flames.

Why do conservatives even give mags like Time the opportunity to do this? He should have known what he was walking into and laid out some ground rules.
After a confrontation at a demonstration, I was asked by two female self-desicribed “journalists” if I would answer some questions. I told them plainly, NO, I don’t trust journalists.
An alternative theme might have been “Most Americans unlikely to stand for urban/elite ridiculous policy choices” subtitled - “without them we’ll have nothing to eat - so let’s all smarten up”
Yikes.
I just tell them politely, "No thanks, I have been misquoted before."
So who is surprised? That Communist rag has been duping the public for years. No real Americans read it, anyway.
> I just tell them politely, “No thanks, I have been
> misquoted before.”
Well said.
I haven’t been misquoted, however, since I’ve never given these low-lifes the chance.
“They’ve never called me, never asked me to speak,” he said.
According to what I read here this was just a hit piece. The man never gave an interview. Time(wasted) was just trying to make a connection between those who love our Constitution and some imaginary militia.
This only plays to the ACORN type. Well those that can read and buy a magazine.
Who still reads Time magazine?
Serious question......would love to see their circulation numbers(outside of doctor’s offices)
There you go. WHEN!!!! are conservatives going to wise up and ignore the MSM. Everything they do is a hit job.
“So who is surprised? That Communist rag has been duping the public for years. No real Americans read it, anyway.”
I remember TIME being a Commie rag from as far back as 40+ years ago.
At that time, the only real news magazine was USNWR.
I no longer see any of them, and have no idea who, if any, is legit.
...”Time, down 34.9 percent to about 90,000...” in late 2009.
I suspect that their influence is a bit disproportionate though, because they are widely used as a source, even if no one reads the actual mag.
(However, these numbers come from the NYT, so, who knows how accurate they are?)

Probably the same reason some gun shop owners let TV news people into their shops. They have "stars" in their eyes over the "celebrity" of it all.
It's best to remember that the mainstream media are a bunch of lying weasels and the propaganda department of the Demoncrats.
If it were not for dentist and doctor offices, time would have been dead long ago.
Best he be sent back home.
The last time I read a Time Magazine was in my dentist's office. It was a 3 year old issue, the most recent one I could find.
I doubt many doctors' or dentists' offices subscribe any more. Time will soon go the way of Newswreak and U.S. Snooze & Word Distort.
It's most peculiar how certain left-wing media outlets remain publishing in the face of dwindling or inadequate readership and advertising revenue. They are obviously getting infusions of capital from somewhere.
I'll wager that increasing numbers of U.S. media outlets have been or are in the process of being acquired wholly or in part by middle east or other foreign interests....more precisely, enemies of the Republic.

How about articles like “Is the Times proIslamic?” or “How antiSemetic is the Time?”.
