“But I do everything possible to honor my agreements which may color my view.”
Well, you are special. Too bad everyone in this world isn’t as special as you are. We wouldn’t need laws, or lawyers or threads on students who have committed suicide because people aren’t honorable or special.
Heck yeah. Seriously, I think....you need it as well.
I am special because I honor agreements? I already indicated that I know that 100% compliance isn’t reality so I don’t know what point you are making now. I do find that most people keep their word to me. Perhaps you don’t have that experience. If I had no expectation of it I wouldn’t enter into any agreements.
“— don’t tell me you’d not be mad as hell if it happened to you or someone in your family.”
I have been “mad as hell” numerous times over the years.
That is why you try to sit students down and advise them as best as possible to not get themselves into such situations. To keep their focus on why they came to College and to not put themselves or their schooling in jeopardy.
The media is now trying to turn it into a gay story. Ravi’s friends saying he was not a homophobe. They said he was a good guy.
This kid was very young. This was his first semester at school. What he did was wrong, kids should not have sex in dorm rooms and I am not for the gay agenda.
I see it more as a nerdy kid that was probably unsophisticated and two mean people. They had to know it would destroy this poor kid.
Pople do not want the govt or other people spying on them. There is no privacy anymore.

“Well, I cant speak to every law in every state; but, apparently the state in which this incident occurred has some stringent privacy laws.”
Well, that wouldn’t surprise me with it being NJ.
“Did you know that heterosexual students have sex in their dorm rooms too?”
How many of them were broadcast on the internet by this video creep and then committed suicide? I mentioned the poor gay kid because he was the victim here. The heterosexuals all seem to be alive and well. They’re not the victims of any crime.
“Actually, both homosexual and heterosexual students have sex in many different places on campus and off.”
That might be so, but it seems that one particular place is in question here not every corner and closet on campus.
“As far as expectations, if I desire ironclad privacy, I will choose a truly secure place in which to carry on my activities.”
So would I, but in any case, if I paid rent in a place, I sure as hell would not expect my roommate to film me and broadcast me on the internet whether I was picking my nose or enjoying a pretty co-ed.
“I wonder how many times this student had sex in his bedroom at home?”
I have no idea. I do know that if his mom or dad broadcast his sexual activities online without his knowledge they would be getting to know the local district attorney as well.
You wrote, "Apparently a long time friend of Ravi's doesn't think Ravi's actions had anything to do with Clementi's homosexuality. Unlike a number of posters who concluded that without any evidence at all." Then you quoted the friend's statement as evidence to support your idea.
I'm just saying that someone who's committed enough to the idea that The Homosexuality is the reason can come up with ways of discounting the statement.
My gut feeling, for what it's worth, is that Ravi's friend is at least partially right and Ravi probably would've posted it if what he recorded had any semblance of sexuality, no matter how it was directed.
And the whole affair made the news (and Drudge, and FR) because of the suicide. If it were a suicide after a heterosexual experience, it would've made the news. If nothing as big as a suicide had happened (examples of "big": Tyler shoots Ravi and goes on trial, or Tyler files a high-profile lawsuit and goes for interviews on national TV, or...), probably no one would've posted about it.
None of what I'm saying makes the homosexuality part utterly irrelevant, but it's also probably less important than people who make it a central issue are justified in doing. (I include those who'd use this incident as evidence of Scary Endemic Homophobia, grounds for "hate crime" charges, and ammunition for mandatory "diversity training.")
Can't disagree....
Good luck....
OK, I see. I didn't get all of that from the first post. Thanks for clarifying.
LOL No doubt! The law calls it "a reasonable expectation of privacy."
Well the liberal media is turning it into a gay victim story. Sickening.
I think it is just a horrible thing the two kids did. I hate sorority hazing, jocks raping girls at colleges and other garbage, lib profs hassling conservative students, joke degrees that dumb kids go in debt for and other college crap.
If Ravi was sick of this kid’s actions he should have gone to the university. He was going to stream the video a second time. Who would watch it? I am think Ravi may suffer from the g*y.

I agree. I don’t understand how so many people posting in this thread don’t think there was anything wrong with broadcasting this guy and his gay paramour live on the internet WITHOUT their knowledge or permission. I don’t get it.
Members of liberal dem victim groups are worth more - therefore their death matters. If a young man and woman were taped and killed themselves it wouldn't matter - they're not 'special' in that way only liberals can be special... /s
This is liberal ABC News and his friend’s spin.
It is okay is Ravi is a creep who video tapes people without their consent in private but Ravi would be a really bad person if he was a “homophobe.”
The media is making it a big gay story to blame society and “homophobes” not blame evil Ravi and his girlfriend Molly Wei who should go to jail.
Also nothing about Rutgers sex policy in the dorms. It is now a gay persecution story to the liberal media.
“So would I, but in any case, if I paid rent in a place, I sure as hell would not expect my roommate to film me and broadcast me on the internet whether I was picking my nose or enjoying a pretty co-ed.”
This seems to be the crux of the problem doesn’t it? This student had the same expectations as you and he was, obviously, deeply disappointed.
Was the other person he tried to covertly tape and stream to the net gay?
