NEW YORK (CBS 2/1010 WINS) — A Rutgers University student, who was allegedly secretly taped having sex in his dorm room, took his own life, according to his family’s lawyer.

"Ravi was a ping-pong player and Frisbee enthusiast, while Wei was described by one friend as a dedicated student from a strict household.
"She studies a lot," said the 17-year-old, who attended West Windsor-Plainsboro High School with the pair. "She gets good grades. She never did anything bad."

Yes it is. If the young man hadn't had homosexual sex, there would have been nothing to tape or broadcast. That was the catalyst.

I get the first part. The second part, not so much.
Because he asked his roommate for privacy for a specified period of time and the roommate agreed to give him privacy. Seems like a reasonable expectation that a roommate would honor the agreement.

Yes, I have already been told that agreements between roommates don’t mean anything. Says more about you than anyone else.
Admittedly I get all my news on this very sad death of an 18 year kid via Iceland.
That said;
The reports are that Ravi, the suposedly victimized normal hetero dude, proclaimed on his Facebook rave porn invitation that his 18 year old roomate “had requested privacy”, “AGAIN”.
So even the first part is a fraud.
Ravi is a voyeuristic freak show Jerry Spinger wannabe puke.
At least the 18 year old kid was man enough to jump off of the George Washington bridge.

The issue at at the root of this, then, is that the university trampled Ravi’s God-given right to avoid the society of sodomites.
Zhuang told ABC News he believes Ravi was excited to go to Rutgers and believes the media portrayals of Ravi as possibly homophobic or a serious prankster are not true. "I'm in shock, I didn't expect this to happen and I am just speechless. He's normally very nice and I don't think that this is a representation of him," said Zhuang. "He's very very open minded and he, like if it had been a girl in the room it wouldn't have been any different," he said.
Ravi, Wei, Zhuang... I always wondered why it seemed every caucasian from Jersey went to college in the midwest.

Actually, I have worked in the public school system and in colleges for most of my public career. I have counseled numerous students. I am very familiar with their lifestyles and antics while involved in University life.
What is...is. And, a large number of students wash out way before they complete their third semester. It is usually due to antics and lifestyles that are inconsistent with success in College or University.
A lot of these students aren’t ready for a serious go at University life and many think they are free from parents and guardians and can live any way they want without suffering any consequences to their actions.
Sounds like this student was very talented and had been given plenty of opportunity for success. It is too bad that he wasn’t more mature and prepared to live as an adult.
I thought it was because of lower out of state tuition. That’s what my NJ friends in the ‘70s told me. That and the fact that Boulder was 2,000 miles away from their parents. YMMV.
