WASHINGTON -- White House spokesman Robert Gibbs was delighted by the humiliating downfall of Gen. Stanley McChrystal, according to a new book by Bob Woodward.
"Like a pig in s- - -" is how Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell described it to others.
"Obama's Wars" chronicles widespread infighting during the Obama administration's first 19 months, especially regarding the decision to send 30,000 more troops into Afghanistan.
One of the people adamantly opposed to the decision was Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who was concerned that it would imperil President Obama's aggressive domestic agenda.
"Nothing would make Rahm happier than if I said no to the 30,000 . . . Rahm would tell me it'd be much easier to do what I want to do by saying no," Obama told Woodward in a sitdown interview, according to Politico.com.

One day, my sincerest hope, is that soldiers under command of such a general arrest these bomb-throwers and transport their worthless asses to Guantanamo Bay.
And big Lib McChrystal voted for these guys. Talk about a useful idiot.
I agree. Seeing that fools like Colin Powell and McChrystal can become four star generals is a little scary. It’s no wonder that our country is in such sad shape.
You’re right...One of the few Army guys that voted for zero and they relish his sacking? They just hate military types even when they are their’s politically.
“One of the people adamantly opposed to the decision was Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who was concerned that it would imperil President Obama’s aggressive domestic agenda.”
....maybe he remembers hearing about LBJ...Johnson couldn’t pay for Vietnam and Great Society give-aways at the same time...so he went to printing money....screwed up the economy until Volker jacked up the prime to 21%...when that measure took hold, it, combined with Reagan set off the greatest Bull market in history.
“Like a pig in s- - -” I can see that applying to Gibbs.
Advancement in the military has become more and more a political game based on "sponsors" and contacts. Leadership, hard work, courage and military skills take a back seat.
One day... I hope all people voluntarily serving this regime and this president face justice. Hanging is too good for them.
LLS
I want to see the entire West Wing frogmarched out to prison buses.
I bet Giblets finds it very easy to “squeal like a pig”.......................
Insulting to pigs everywhere.
“Like a pig in s- - -”
A more apt description of Gibbs has never been said. With or without the ‘s-—.”
Lost in the brouhaha over McChrystal and the Rolling Stone interview was that there were valid complaints on the part of the military with the White House and the political appointees.
He can see how those same people appreciated his service. Too bad!
I was thinking the same thing accompanied by the theme from “Deliverance.”

Don't forget about Wesley Clarke, Eric Shinseki and the current CJCOS. Winners all...
