I am sorry to say this town in Ohio is close to where I grew up. --------------------
Local officials in Ohios Andover Township have denied the use of their public square for a celebration of Constitution Day because of the political affiliation of its organizers.
Several residents of the small central Ohio town formed The Andover Tea Party in May 2010, and in that same month, they asked to use the square for a rally to commemorate Constitution Day, which celebrates the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787.
But on July 19, a trustee informed one of the tea party organizers, Margaret Slingluff, that they would not be allowed to hold the event, which would have included singers performing patriotic songs and public policy-related speakers, in the square. In an official letter dated Aug. 25, the trustee said the reason was due to your groups political affiliation....
Where’s the ACLU?
Road trip...
Ignore your masters. Hold your rally.
cue Rush’s theme song..........hey, ho, way to go... Ohio.
I suggest holding your rally in disguise. Maybe you could all dress like Indians.
So what would happen if a bunch of Buckeyes showed up with copies of the constitution and held a rally anyway? Would the Andover cops come out with gas masks and gear?
Not Indians, Muslims!
Northeastern Ohio if anybody is free on Sept 17.
Just hold it anyway.
It’s Andover, Ohio - not Bendover, Ohio.
Sue, sue, sue, and I don’t mean the girl.
It’s a shame there won’t be a Tar and Feathers rally held in response to the denial of a Constitution rally.
“Better to ask forgiveness than permission.”
Heck, the Nazis got to march in Skokie, Ill.
Then it would be a Coffee Party.
Sounds like the good citizens of Andover have some serious housecleaning to do next election.
I don't see any exception in there for political actions. In fact, political speech should be more protected than any other rather than less protected like the McCain-Feingold Free Speech Elimination Act made it.
(at least we have a chance to eliminate Feingold from the Senate in 48 days).
The radical Dems are desperate.
You don’t need permission to practice freedom of speech...do regardless of what these dimwits say.
Judge slapped the town with a restraining order. The town is planning to scrap the law because they can’t win.
