I'm sorry, I can't tell if it's ok to excerpt any of it, but basically it's a video with an article about a whole selection of idiots, one a volunteer meter man who got angry and lashed out and a woman and her husband who caught it on video and want to sue (over what damages I cannot imagine).
I see.
I was hoping you would. My work here is done.
WOODCHUCK!
Looks like the husband went back to start trouble with the guy....he took the ticket back but the husband wasn’t satisfied with that. The meter guy should not have cussed him...but like he said, you don’t see the part where the husband taunted him.
LOL I have no idea what that means, do you?
Yes, the husband was a jerk, and if he had a real issue, he should have gone to the courthouse and complained, you never go hunt down the police (or the meter man, etc) and confront them and try to elicit a response you can videotape. And the meter man should have just walked away. I have not been very impressed with any of our public servants here...except our EMTs. They are first rate (but then, they always seem to be).
This was on FNC this morning and their legal panel said there is no case. There wasn’t a ticket, there wasn’t a fight, the meter man is a volunteer. They have no idea what this couple thinks they can sue for.
bump so nobody misses
When the meter-man shoved the camera back into the citizen’s face, he committed assault. The driver’s options are to get out of the car and kick this guy’s ass, let it go, or obtain legal representation.
Frankly, I’m glad he went the legal representation route.
I don’t like the litigation at the drop of a hat aspects of this, but I’m damned tired of having city workers act as if they own the world and you’re dirt under their feet too.
Well, people think they can sue if you blink at them wrong. I think we have a higher ratio of lawyers than normal.
This happened last Friday and they already have an attorney. Sounds like a couple of real con artists.
I was surprised no one else has posted, seemed like the kind of foolishness FReepers like to marvel at.
Woodchuck.
A term used for a native Vermonter who displays Vermont characteristics. Derogatory if used by a person out of state. Also used to describe a person from the country that isn’t used to urban life.
The meter-guy commits assault on camera, and your reaction is to trash the guy with the camera. Lordy...
“I think we have a higher ratio of lawyers than normal.”
####
I would term the ratio, “pathological”.
Lawyers are killing our society and culture.
As a nation we would be MUCH better served if 75% of them were converted into busnessmen, engineers, or plumbers, or street sweepers.
What assault? There was no assault. Did you even watch the whole video? You must have a few parking tickets or perhaps just a major grudge against city workers.
The legal panel was manned by a bunch of idiots then.
Paid or not, the man was functioning on behalf of the city. He assaulted the guy with the camera by pushing it back into his face while it was taping.
Do they think city employees should be able to assault members of the public, without legal exposure?
You don’t put a hothead in a position like this. Meter people take a lot of guff. If a person can’t take it, they have no business representing the city in that manner. The city has no business letting that person work for them.
Lets look at it this way. Should the city be able to employ people who assault members of the public at will?
If yes, then I agree there is no case.
If no, then the city must be exposed to litigation so that they won’t.
You let the city off here, and it’s open season on the public. Any public employee has a get out of trouble card, if they want to assault a member of the public.
I’m with the meter man - the “victims” seem like first-class twits.
Assault? I didn’t see any assault, and no one else has mentioned it.
