WILMINGTON, Del. – Conservative activist Christine O'Donnell earned a stunning victory in Delaware's Republican Senate primary Tuesday, riding a wave of tea party anger and advertising dollars to oust U.S. Rep. Michael Castle.

O'Donnell's shocking win gave new energy to the tea party movement, which targeted Castle after victories by Republican tea party candidates in the Alaska and Nevada Senate primaries.

With 78 percent of precincts reporting, O'Donnell had 54 percent to 46 percent for Castle, a former two-term governor and the longest serving congressman in Delaware history.

The GOP machine basically has overnight to decide if they want to remain in existence

Totally agree with you.... if we turn on the morning shows and hear more of this nonsense like we've heard tonight from Dana and Rove - it will be all over for them! I hope they hear a HUGE outcry concerning what was said tonight... I am still fuming mad and I don't even live in Delaware :)

Anger?

Some quick numbers: Deficits for the first two years of the Obama Regime total 2.7T. With 100M individuals/couples filing income taxes each year, that comes to $27,000 in additional debt per household! What did we get for all that money? Nothing useful, nothing more than totally non-productive payoffs to the Obama/Pelosi clique. As my kids come of age, they will start their adult life with that additional liability acting as an anchor to slow them down in all of their activities, so yes, I’m angry with the socialists. And I am glad to see Christine O’Donnell and other real conservatives going out there to fight for the rights of Americans who work for a living and produce the wealth that Dems can only redistribute or destroy.

"You've never worked a campaign have you? Election night, the candidate is out of breath from talking to everyone, the spirits are flowing and high and in this case, being the under dog and pulling out a win.. I wouldn't expect much more than a few breathless cheers."

The highest of the highs! Especially in this case

Rove could be correct, that the GOP may not win the seat now. However, I see no difference between losing the seat and electing another Lincoln Chaffee or Arlen Specter to the Senate.

Those who say "we may lose control of the Senate if we lose that seat"-remember Specter. The GOP backed him; and he alone was enough to give us Obama Care after he pulled a Judas on us.

Better the devil you know...

That is already decided. Both state and national GOP have said they will not spend a dime on her nor will they support her.

There you have it, people, the PUBs don’t give a damn what you think. Shut up and do what we tell you.

GTH, GOP!

Who wants to take bets that the GOP coffers start shrinking—FAST???

Glad I pulled my membership years ago when I saw the direction they were heading!

I understand. I will pray she is not what I have heard and she will become strong enough to win. All I am saying is that I have been a detractor since I listened to her on the radio and she sounded bad. I thought maybe she would be prepared for a win and offer a dignified victory speech to give a little confidence for people like me who didn’t let our Rhino hate get the better of our judgement in personal qualities. I was hoping she would do what is required to win and talk normal.

In the event that O’Donnell loses, the Castles of the GOP win. FReepers are claiming victory against RINOs, but that war cannot be won until Tea Party candidates are victorious in the general. Motivated activists can always win low-turnout primaries.

Hang on boys, its gonna be a bumpy ride.

All she has to do is be honest about conservatism. If I were to put words in Christine O'Donnell's mouth in the next few days I'd say:

"We won tonight not because of me but because the voting taxpayer is tired of the elitist backstabbing politicians who will sacrifice any principle for their own political career and power."

"In the coming general election we will be facing a candidate who may not be perceived as an establishment elitist, but rather as a Democratic Party representative. Unlike our past Republican representative we will make every effort to clearly define what our conservative values are, and their outright conflict with the authoritarian government policies of the Left, for which the Democratic Party stands. Win or lose thank you all for at least this opportunity."

Christine, you either lay it on the line without ego getting in the way, or be gone with you.

http://www.wgmd.com/?p=9496 this is interview where she accused host in a “conspiracy” getting paid by Castle, lied about what she said regarding her run against Biden, sounded defensive, sounded like a person who is not credible and telling the truth. I am just saying this type of double talk etc... will never win a general election even in Texas.

> Anyway now it’s critical that the GOP get behind O’Donnell.

I just heard from Bret Bair on Greta that the GOP has said they WILL NOT support O’Donnell, period. “Not a dime” was, I think the wy Greta summarized it.

A RINO in the ranks voting with the Democrats is worse than a Democrat. A RINO voting with the Democrats breaks our ranks and encourages others to do the same. A RINO voting with the Democrats lets them pretend that they have bipartisan support.
