Gov. Christie proposes elimination of 300 N.J. boards, commissions Published: Friday, September 10, 2010, 4:26 PM Updated: Friday, September 10, 2010, 4:45 PM Lisa Fleisher/Statehouse Bureau Lisa Fleisher/Statehouse Bureau
TRENTON Gov. Chris Christie today released reports from his departments recommending the merger or elimination of about 300 boards and commissions including many inactive or defunct groups created years ago, and some that have never met at all.
At the same time, Christie signed an executive order his 40th since taking office in January (PDF) shuttering 60 inactive boards, including some created three decades ago.
The report was compiled in response to Christie's 15th executive order (PDF), which he signed in February in an attempt to curb the cost of boards and authorities by cracking down on "golden parachute" payments for employees leaving a job and required authorities to get clearance from the governor's office to hire lobbyists or spend more than $250 on travel expenses. Christie said he would review the recommendations from his cabinet.
The 60 eliminated today by executive order are:

Thinking the same.
EPA, HUD, NEA, etc etc etc .............. all unnecessary.
The way they keep their people eating in between looting sessions (er, "holding office") is appointing them to these commissions with their ludicrous salaries.
Walkin' around money for Commoonity Organizers.
The screaming is gonna be real loud. Looks like it's McDonalds or starvation for some of them....
President Obama is creating a Czar of Czar Creation to demonstrate that appointing numerous Czars is more effective than the Christie approach. If, by chance, it turns out appoint numerous Czars is less effective, a Czar of Czar Reduction will be appointed, assuming the other Czars approve.
Well, he did endorse Mike Castle.
How many boards and commissions does NJ have??!!
WoooooHooooooo! Hope somebody notices that smaller government means less tax requirement and who’d a thunk-it more freedom from government regulation.....
Unfair, unfair!
My politician cousin promised that he would put me on the Governors Study Group on the Bicentennial of the Polish Constitution.
Now where on earth am I going to get the big expense account and benefits I was planning on?
The idiot appointed a carp czar despite the fact that he already gave the great lakes czar jurisdiction over invasive species in the great lakes.
The great lakes czar got a 20 billion dollar budget and we haven’t heard from him since.
A couple of real winners that were nuked today:
25. the Governors Commission on Eastern European History created by Executive Order No. 41 (1991)
34. the Governors Study Group on the Bicentennial of the Polish Constitution, Executive Order No. 31 (1991)
Hopefully, when republicans are in the majority those czars will be looked into and eliminated....
And everywhere else.
Since merely doing the right thing 90% of the time is the threshold for RINOism, there is no doubt Christie is a RINO along with everyone else in the GOP. Ronald Reagan himself was a "RINO" under this definition, because he also endorsed several liberal Republicans (for example in 1976 he wanted Richard Schweiker to be his running mate, who was even worse than Castle)
NOW we’re talkin’.....hopin’ this gets done in Oregon next year!!!
Here’s my favorite:
52. the Task Force for the Review of the Treatment of the Criminally Insane created by Executive Order No. 58 (1996)
And today Ozero names a “carp czar”
Draft Christie for 2012
This addresses the very core of fat bureaucracy: useless, bloated, redundant redundant redundancy. People getting salaries in the high 5/low 6 digit salaries encroaching on the liberties of the people.
If we did this on the federal level, we could save a trillion in a flash. This would, of course, create a glut of useless people standing on the street corner with cardboard signs, but I’ll be happy to hand a happy meal through my car window to them as I drive by.
