In a loud voice, looney-toons style, "DON'T BURN THAT KORAN... THER'LL BE HELL TO PAY!" Oh really... some thoughts on that...
When the senator from Utah proclaimed, "This war is lost", did any military general spout off, "hey this kind of talk could get our soldiers killed"?
When John Kerry claimed "our soldiers were terrorizing women and children in the dead of night", did any military spokesman speak with any concern, that this kind of talk may increase the dangers for our military.
When John Mertha said our marines murdered in cold blood, did any military brass denounce his claim as hurtful to our military effort.
The answer of course is HELL NO!
May I suggest to you that burning the Koran will do two things. First, it will show that the left, and increasingly, many on the right, are not as into free speech as they proclaim. What ever happened to that wonderful, daringly brave saying, "I may not agree with what you're saying, but I'll defend to the death, your right to say it" well, maybe not so much, "not when death is on the line" (to borrow a phrase from the Prince's Bride).
Two, it will prove that terrorism has had its desired effect. Islam is now officially a state protected religion. No other religion has ever enjoyed such sway over any human society, (I could be wrong historically, but not currently). What the hell... I want some of that... As a christian, I get no respect, none from the left, not much from the right, and down right hostility from everywhere else. Why? Because I'm not out there cutting off heads, blowing up buildings, or otherwise killing by whatever means will instill the greatest terror.
Do I think that the burning of the Koran is an efficacious way of combating an enemy, hell bent on our destruction... I dunno, I'm beginning to wonder. When I first heard of it, I thought, that's stupid. Nevertheless, I have also thought, at some points in the past, that I might like to burn a Koran, if for no other reason than to say, "I will not fear you and you will not creep my world". Maybe, it has more to do with individual courageousness than anything else.
I don't know pastor Jones, he doesn't look all that intelligent, and I'd probably never attend his church... but after all the attention he is getting, being goaded by David P., Hannity, and the President (there he goes again), I say, go ahead, burn that damn book. It's your right! If soldiers can fight and die while our politicians enjoy the right to impugn them and their actions, then surely, by all rights, this man's action is no less a protected right... and I'll bet many in the military (particularly of the enlisted ranks) are proud to fight for this man's rights. " I may not agree with what you say..." BS. God Bless and Protect You Pastor... We may not wish to have been dragged into this, but now that its upon us, I'm standing with this pastor.
This guy is doing a publicity stunt because he’s in financial straits, nothing more. He does not care what the consequences are for our troops and diplomats and their families. The media is playing along, hoping to tie him in to the Bush, GOP, Tea Party or some right wing org in some way shape or form. This guy is hoping for some cash infusion to his coffers from like minded people. This is not a Christian act. It is a self-serving, self-righteous act of petulance and demagoguery of the worst kind..........
Your comparison is a Red Herring.
First of all, to compare Jesus’ ministries with the public display of a Koran book burning event is not only a failure to understand Christ’s mission, but an offense to His Word.
Jesus came to preach the gospel, not to burn books. As a matter of fact, when the Pharisees tried to trap him by posing a question concerning Roman taxes, Jesus replied, “Give to Caesar what is Caesars”. In other words, the taxes, just as this booking burning event, had nothing to do with His ministry in preaching the Gospel.
I would hardly described burning the Koran as the Great Comission.
Acts 19:19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
What are the first two ingredients in Scrapple, Alex?
Correct, pick again.
I'll take "Foods I Wouldn't Eat" for $400.
His rights should have been publically upheld but deemed unsavory and not the actions representative of the USA
“A church making a public statement of burning the book of satan is something you do not support?”
Don’t take my statements out of context. Quote my statements in its entirety. I said they have the freedom and liberty. I don’t have to support a so-called Christian church’s publicity stunt.
Now, the Restoring Honor rally is one thing, and a wonderful public display of our Christian faith, but it is nothing like this event.
I’m not sure what you are referring to.
Bravo my friend, bravo...
Hell no, not wasting my money on one... but if a another guy wants to spend and burn, I say, burn it...
Sometimes (like almost all the time) the Quakers simply misinterpret the Bible to mislead you into losing your farm to the claim-jumpers.
The burning moved into the political realm a long time ago.....
You replied:
Yes, and the pastor made sure of that.
Then I replied: No, the lawmakers did. His rights should have been publically upheld but deemed unsavory and not the actions representative of the USA
Ooops, please see post #92
I must sign off and hit the road. Will reply to your post later.
Good day,
TJI
From a worldly perspective, worshiping pagan gods, and promoting paganism over other religions, your perspective might be correct.
The difference is that the Son of God, Christ Jesus, went to the Cross in obedience of the Plan of God the Father.
Islam rejects God the Father, His Plan, and that which has been provided them to have fellowship with Him in righteousness. Instead they deny His righteous Justice which already redeemed mankind from the slave market of sin at the Cross and attempt to counterfeit a substitute to satisfy their unrighteous arrogance by performing what is right in their own eyes.
To me it is more like losing your soul to the devil. :)
sorry, I felt the need to not only repeat your statemnt but to shout it from the mountaintops!
There was a thread a couple of days ago about Muslims handing out cards outside of a state fair. The card had a number to call for a free Koran.
NP! I think a lot of us forget His actions prior to being slain on the cross, for us and forgiveness of our sins.
I, as well as you, do not forget. God Bless you!
Burn, burn, burn.....
Burn the koran
Burn, burn, burn.....
Burn the koran
Burn, burn, burn.....
Burn the koran
You got me jumpin' out of windows
blowin' up in airplanes
Burn, burn, burn.....
Burn the koran
