The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 24% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-five percent (45%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21

Good idea. There appears to be a range in which the figures fluctuate, say -12 to -21. An occasional breakout to a new low would be welcome, but not expected to persist.

For 2012 Obama is not in terrible shape. His base is concentrated in big states. Those states have large black populations, public service union members, welfare recipients , hispanics and lefty youth and egg heads. These represent his core and give him an advantage in those states. He could possibly win with less than 45% of the pop vote.
