Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- "We are on the right side of history! We are on the side of individual freedoms and liberties and, dammit, we will reclaim the civil rights moment. We will take that movement -- because we were the people who did it in the first place." -- Glenn Beck, on his nationally syndicated radio program, May 26.
It is Glenn Beck's most audacious stunt yet: This Saturday, in the company of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the National Rifle Association and others, the Fox News Channel host will stand in the sacred shadow not just of the Lincoln Memorial, but of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. himself, near the spot where King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech 47 years earlier to the exact day.
During this event -- billed as "Restoring Honor" -- Beck will aim to "reclaim the civil rights moment" for his cause, and in the process he will continue what he's been doing for the last 18 months: bending the history of 20th-century America like a Philadelphia soft pretzel.
The revisionist message behind "Restoring Honor" is nothing new for the conservative shock jock. In the year and half since President Obama took office, Beck has led his loyal followers on a journey not just to "reclaim" civil rights but much more audaciously to rewrite the sweeping narrative arc of American history from the time of the Founding Fathers forward.

Well and truly spoken, brother!
I don't follow any one media type. I do like Beck's approach to making us know our history which we can easily look up and verify on our own. Beck even tells his listeners to do that. Beck makes us think. But to completely give into one person's ideology presented on a Media stage is little too heavy duty for me.
I hope the rally Saturday on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial scares the politicians on both sides of the aisle just a little bit..Hell a whole lot!. Pelosi will probably start crying and reflect back to Harvey Milk days or Vietnam protests in SF. Rock Star Biden is probably scheduled for another photo shoot and will forget to worry.
“Beck is a principled Christian man.”
Sorry, but Beck is Mormon, not Christian.
They don't know history period and what's worse is they don't want to know anything other than what some elitist cool revolutionary professor taught them....therefore their ignorance is easily displayed in the "attack the person" commentary they so easily spew.
Many do not know that the original rally 47 years ago was NOT the Dr. King Rally. Dr. King was a featured speaker and his eloquence enshrined both his ideas and the day in history. But the rally was organized by one of the greatest warriors for civil rights andalso a Republican, the great A. Philip Randolph.
It really is ironic that these obamabots don't understand that this is exactly what obama and the democrat national socialists have created. Then again, thanks to an NEA dumbed down public eductaion indoctrination system, I guess it's no surprise these idiots don't know a "fascist (corporatist) dictatorship" even when they're living in one...
Thanks for pointing that out!!
“While watching Ms. King I kept contrasting her with Shirley Sherrod. What a difference in forgiveness.”
That is the personification of the “Truth”.
We all have the ability to tell right from wrong but we so often chose the easy way instead of the right way. Ms. King is choosing right and Truth!
We live in a world were to many see and say “Grey” is ok but there is only black and white, 1’s and 0’s. Good and Evil. We need to recognize this and live from there. No one is perfect and we all sin but the difference is recognizing those sins and repenting along with not doing them again.
LMFWCAO!!!
;-/
Willie (panties in a) Bunch.
ROTFLMAO!!! Hey, Willie...got any examples? No? Didn't think so.
It is the PROGRESSIVES who have been rewriting history to serve their agenda...just check any public school history book. Nice try, Willie.
The truly industrial-strength ignorant actually believe that assertions are persuasive argument.
When I read crap like that I tune out and move on.
Anyone who can read can verify and refute what Glenn has presented. I haven't seen any of that from the brainlsess bunch.
to start that old canard shows you are are either ignorant of the Mormon beliefs or willingly pushing the falsehood.
No. one: Why is the name of the church "The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints?"
Second, who are YOU to decide who does and who does not believe in Jesus as the Christ - i.e., Christians?
Your statement/protestations put you in the same class as these progressive/Marxists elitist and upside down arguments.
Actually, the Mormon Church structure follows that of the original Christians as laid out in the Bible...and BTW, their "BIBLE" is THE BIBLE, the King James Version, which they revere and study from Gen 1:1 to the very last verse of Revelations.
Obviously, there are differences in approaches by many many Christian churches - else there wouldn't be so many different denominations.
People with your attitude would throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Beck has done a Herculean job at educating a wide swath of Americans who hadn't a clue what the Constitution really is, what freedoms our fore fathers guarenteed us, and how they're being stolen.
THAT is the message. And that wake up call may be the horseshoe nail that will save this country.
Let's not be shooting our own.
Thanks for that link - powerful video.
Amen and well said.
Liberty, freedom, civil rights; those things are all stunts to Progressives.
Yes, your post does. Smells trollish.
