Government agents can sneak onto your property in the middle of the night, put a GPS device on the bottom of your car and keep track of everywhere you go. This doesn't violate your Fourth Amendment rights, because you do not have any reasonable expectation of privacy in your own driveway - and no reasonable expectation that the government isn't tracking your movements.
That is the bizarre - and scary - rule that now applies in California and eight other Western states. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which covers this vast jurisdiction, recently decided the government can monitor you in this way virtually anytime it wants - with no need for a search warrant.
It is a dangerous decision - one that, as the dissenting judges warned, could turn America into the sort of totalitarian state imagined by George Orwell. It is particularly offensive because the judges added insult to injury with some shocking class bias: the little personal privacy that still exists, the court suggested, should belong mainly to the rich.

I would summize that any “object” attached to you or a piece of property in your posession could be removed without penalty...
But if you do so, know that whomever “is” watching and tracking you will know you did so, and you may just get that “knock on yer door”...
And if they are really watching you, there will be more than just a GPS tracker device somewhere around you...
Not that I am inciting paranoia or anything...;-)
Thanks for the ping!
I would summize that any object attached to you or a piece of property in your posession could be removed without penalty...I can think of one obvious exception: if your vehicle gets "booted". Better not try removing that device on your own.
I went into traffic court once to try to argue against a parking ticket I got (in Washington DC) and while I was waiting my turn I witnessed the case of a girl who had $3000 in unpaid parking tickets (!) and also was charged with trying to remove the boot on her car.
Her defense: "It wasn't me, it was my boyfriend."
I don't believe that the 9th Circus has read the 4th Amendment . . . . . . . or any other part of the Constitution for that matter!
What do you mean?
They probably each have a copy of their favorite constitution on a podium in their living room.
The so-called judges who came up with this ruling would recoil from an actual copy of the Constitution like Dracula recoils from a crucifix.
Your cell phone can track you within a few feet without GPS. I actually saw my phone tracked that way simply by using cell tower triangulation. It was demonstrated before my very eyes.
And I was not making a call at the time.
When we drove the U-haul from Seattle to our farm in central Kentucky my phone was constantly pinging cell towers. It is what cell phones do. All of those pings are saved.
Right now, if necessary, law enforcement could subpoena the cell tower pings from my provider from last June and track my move to Kentucky. They would know where I was at any time during the entire drive.
The only way to keep it from doing that is to turn off your phone.
If you have a cell phone, your location is being logged at all times - and saved for seven years.
Obama’s minions have argued that they can track you via your cellphone WITHOUT A WARRANT.
Where are those liberal idiots who were complaining that the Patriot Act allowed the government to monitor calls between the US and known terrorist telephone numbers?
Well, I guess this will just create a market for devices to detect GPS transponders.
“Gee guys, I guess it just fell off in my driveway.”
Yep, those would be a no-no...
The only way to keep it from doing that is to turn off your phone.
Not enough. Remove the battery. One of my projects was at a defense related client who shall go unnamed, and batteries were required to be removed from cell phones. No transmitting devices (pagers and the like) were permitted as well.
Actually, “Airplane mode” is enough. It stops transmitting.
Amen.

For those without fear of God because either they know Him not nor accept His dominion over all things, such talk is an even stronger signal that a bad verdict in Watts.
Stop and consider the purpose inherent in such announcements reinforcing the concept that anything they want, they'd be better off to take as soon as possible (rather than wait for the Gubmint check) and we start to see an ugly pattern of destructive potential in such talk.
End of the world scenarios are all fun and games until someone loses a planet. This plays into the coming Dark Age all too well, and underscores the need to be prepared, not just for possible natural cataclysm, but for the nearly inevitable sociocultural and political ones which can be created by the belief that an unavoidable natural cataclysm is coming.
