Sarah Palin's Misguided Demagoguery
Lord Byron Foundation ^ | 8/19/10 | Srdiaj Trifkovic

Posted on 08/19/2010 12:05:30 PM PDT by Bokababe

Arguing against the building of an Islamic shrine near New York’s Ground Zero, former U.S. vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin linked the mosque project to “building a Serbian Orthodox church at Srebrenica killing fields where Muslims were slaughtered.” Mrs. Palin is right to oppose the Ground Zero mosque. It is unacceptable, and detrimental to her cause, to invoke false parallels in the process, based on events of which she knows but very little.

Mrs. Palin’s metaphor was misguided and deeply insulting to Orthodox Christians. It creates a totally false analogy between an act of brutal Islamist terror which killed three thousand innocent American civilians, and a war crime -- resulting from the complex events of a three-sided civil war in Bosnia -- in which the victims were, overwhelmingly, men who had previously taken an active part in that same civil war.

It implies, falsely, that the Muslims were the only victims of the tragic events at Srebrenica. In reality, throughout the war period 1992—1995, Serbian villages around Srebrenica were subjected to widespread, systematic attacks and destruction by the Muslim military forces concentrated within the Srebrenica enclave. The attacks were indiscriminate and they targeted Serbs as such. The victims were peaceful peasants, whose only fault was that they were Serbian Orthodox Christians.

The original "killing fields" in the region of Srebrenica do not date from 1995, but from 1941-45. The Serbs in that same area had been subjected to genocide during World War II not only by the Nazis but also by the Croatian Ustaša “Black Legion” (in the spring of 1942) and by the Muslim 13th SS “Hanjar” Division in 1944.

Sarah Palin is blissfully unaware of all that, of course. What she thinks she knows is what has been served to her advisors over the past 15 years by The Hague tribunal, in official reports by governments and NGO's and the media. Their contention that as many as 8,000 Muslims were killed has no basis in available evidence and is essentially a political construct.

Sarah Palin’s latest gaffe proves, yet again, that questioning the received elite class narrative on “Srebrenica” is a good and necessary endeavor. The accepted Srebrenica story, influenced by war propaganda and uncritical media reports, is neither historically nor morally correct. The relentless Western campaign against the Serbs and in favor of their Muslim foes -- which is what “Srebrenica” is really all about -- is detrimental to the survival of our culture and civilization, and an insult to the memory of the victims of 9-11. It seeks to give further credence to the myth of Muslim blameless victimhood, Christian viciousness, and Western indifference, and therefore weaken our resolve in the global struggle euphemistically known as “war on terrorism.” The former is a crime; the latter, a mistake.

A Republican hopeful with a very long foreign policy learning curve ahead of her is gravely misguided to follow the Democrats’ lead in what amounts to appeasing Islamic aspirations -- in the Balkans, or anywhere else. She should grasp that pandering to Muslim obsessions will never improve her standing in the Muslim world in general, or with those Muslims entitled to vote in the U.S. in particular.

Mrs. Palin would do a far better service to the memory of the victims of 9-11 by learning some recent history. She needs to grasp a key paradox: if Western and especially U.S. policy in the Balkans was not meant to facilitate Jihad, the issue is not why, but how its effects paradoxically coincided with the regional objectives of those same Islamists who produced Ground Zero and who confront America in other parts of the world.

“Srebrenica” provides some of the answers. The immediate bill is being paid by the people of the Balkans, but “Srebrenica’s” long-term costs will come to haunt the West for decades to come. It is not to Sarah Palin credit that she has contributed to the final bill.

About 80% of Americans are UNIFIED against this mosque.

DEHUMANIZING TRADITIONAL AMERICA, THE OBAMA GOAL

That makes no difference to the national socialist elite in power, they want to cow America with their Utopia. The former needless genocidal 9/11 sacrifice of 3800 innocent lives is trumped by “ minority rights.” This is just the beginning if Obama and his national socialist junta is allowed to stay in power. People in general should make no mistake about it.

The dehumanization of the 9/11 victims is the goal Obama has.Once this is accomplished, the sky is the limit for this sort of thing. He means to define who is humanand who is not. And then we are to watch silently as Obama’s plan to isolate and disempower middle America socially , politically and economically accelerates. Dehumanization of sectors of society is a major fascist technique. So far he has dehumanized many, including the Fort Hood shooting victims, as the sanctity of Muslims is preserved in our military over the necessity for American justice and the future protection of our military personell.

On a parallel matter, Obama is redistricting America as we speak, using the 2010 census. The defining parameters will be to cloister racial and ethnic minorites into their own Congressional constituncies. Subsequently the plan is to pit that block of racial and ethnic minority voters against the rest of America. The “ minority rights” aspect of this mosque argument will then be applied to budgeting. Special federal programs to provide “historical justice “ for the so called ‘exploited” will be put in place. Using fannie / freddie for affirmative action lending nearly destroyed our nation and the world economy, and now Obama wants to remake Fannie /Freddie? You can imagine the image in which he will remake these bogus institutions, even Barney Frank is bailing.

There is a very large comprehensive plan, and the mosque right now is the icon on a much larger political battle front. America is kept ignorant of this larger battle. The Obama Utopia is a cultural mosaic, not a melting pot, and he is quietly going about this redefinition of America which will now be rammed down our throats , using his executive powers, the Supreme Court, and a cowed Congress.

Obama will not unite America, he intends to divide it and conquer it, and will use force to do so if he thinks it necessary.Thats why he manifests a burgeoning Secret Service personal security plan which now freezes our municipalities as he travels about our nation. Its a message, part of his campaign to cow America into submission.

This mosque must not be built, if it is, it will likely be destroyed. As Rush Limbaugh says, can one imagine building a Shinto Temple adjacent to the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor, 10 years after it happened there?

You can see the reasoning here about the overall Obama approach which he has very carefully revealed to America in fits and starts, so few will connect the dots. This is his so called transparency:

Freedom loving conservatives should avoid using the UN/media complex's lies regarding the recent fighting in the Balkans.

Its a sure loser for those serious about fighting a war on Islamic terror.

Despite the “misguided demagoguery” or whether or not the parallel reflects an in-depth analysis of all the intricacies of the Balkan region, it does raise a valid point: If an Orthodox Church were to be constructed at or near a battlefield site VIEWED BY THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY as a site of major aggression by “orthodox christians” against “muslims”, the outrage would be palpable and you would be hearing cries for intifida against the orthodox infidels.

She was making an analogy. The larger point is that a people who did a mass murder, shouldn’t build one a celebratory church at that site.

In the main, Americans justifiably simply don’t give a damn about the balkan war.

*Note to immigrants, there is something YOU need to grasp. You are happily encouraged to bring your cuisine, your literature, your music, your clothes, some fun holiday traditions, and some words to contribute to the english language. But i could give a rat’s a$$ about who killed who back in the home country. If you do,, stay there. Hutus and Tutsi’s, Serb and Muslim,,,,We just do not care about your generally idiotic squabbles.

However I do appreciate the original poster's historical perspective. I must have missed all those other conservatives who worked aggressively to correct the narrative...

The links between the 9/11 attackers and Bosnia are long and extensive.

The first known al Qaeda document was found in Bosnia and dated to two years before the Bosnian war ever began.

Bin Laden had received Bosnian citizenship from our boy Izetbegovic.

Even the 9/11 attackers left a video saying that 9/11 was in retaliation for Bosnia (and Chechnya)

I’ll supply links if anyone is interested.

Did she actually refer to or insinuate a Christian slaughter of muslims? Idiotic if she did.

Again, thank you for the historical perspective, but I believe you inadvertently made her point. It is a matter of perception...

Thank you for helping to set the record straight.

There are so many records to be set straight, but unfortunately as the years pass, accurate records are being replaced by religious and political agendas.

Few voices calling out in the wilderness. Thank you for yours!

It's like building an Aryan Nations Gym and Worship Center next to the grave of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

How's that?

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

“Sarah Palin is blissfully unaware of all that, of course. What she thinks she knows is what has been served to her advisors over the past 15 years by The Hague tribunal, in official reports by governments and NGO’s and the media.”

This is more JOHN MCCAIN speak! Don’t forget he was the BIGGEST hawk on Kosovo, siding with the MUSLIMS...he wanted to put our troops on the ground and destroy more of it than we did. (mostly because of BIG campaign $$$ by the Albanian Muslim lobby)

McCain also said U.S. troops killed civilians

[snip]John McCain in 2000 said because of tactical decisions U.S. troops were put in the position of killing civilians in Kosovo — something awfully similar to the comments he’s now attacking Barack Obama for.

During a Republican primary debate in 2000 McCain called the Clinton strategy in Kosovo “obscene” because it forced troops into using tactics that meant civilians were going to get killed.

“In the most obscene chapter in recent American history is the conduct of the Kosovo conflict when the president of the United States refused to prepare for ground operations, refused to have air power used effectively because he wanted them flying — he had them flying at 15,000 feet where they killed innocent civilians because they were dropping bombs from such — in high altitude.”

That is almost exactly what Barack Obama said last year about U.S. troops in Afghanistan, when he said the U.S. strategy has led to air strikes rather than controlling the ground — a remark that McCain, in a new ad announced this week, calls “dishonorable.”

Of course she was, a kindergartner could grasp that.

I am an American, born & bred ---and my family has been in this country since before your grandfather was likely born. I happened to have studies Balkan politics since long before Yugoslavia came apart.

But if you are not interested in foreign policy and politics or how we ever got the point of contemplating "a Ground Zero Mosque", then I would suggest that you don't respond to threads involving those issues -- and just wait until Muslims arrive at your front door demanding that you convert, before you deal with the issue.

I couldn't disagree more. Your choice of the word justifiably is insane. You are correct in that most Americans don't give a damn about the balkan war. But that war has great implications on the world scene and the struggle of Western Civilization against the forces of Islam. Yes, the Balkans are difficult to understand and you need to understand history to appreciate the complexity of the struggle. But to pass it off as just another war in the world is beyond foolish. The Balkans are very important in the overall struggle against the forces of Islam.

“Serb and Muslim,,,,We just do not care about your generally idiotic squabbles.”

We’ve been warning you about the intent of Islam for years. Now they are building a mosque at Ground Zero but blocking the building of an Orthodox Church.

The Orthodox world has been fighting this bastion of Satan worship for a long time. You would do well to listen. What happened at Srebrenica had more to do with the fact that the UN allowed terrorists to operate from Srebrenica with impunity.

If a terrorist attacked your home, burned down your church, raped and murdered your daughters and wife and then ran into the city limits where a foreign power told you you were not allowed to go, what would you do? Smoke pot and sing Cumbaya?

Srebrenica should not have happened, but if my family were murdered that way I would not stop until they were stopped.

You mean kinda like Kosovo? Or kinda like the Greek Orthodox church that is not allowed to be rebuilt at ground zero?

She could have picked a better analogy.
