agree, I have been saying for ten years that this so called media needs to be hounded at every turn and every every minute.
They got him elected with their lies, they still cover for him even though he is slapping them in the face.
They have proved that they cannot do their jobs or even listen to their viewers and see their ratings.
After this mess I hope we get a strong person in the white house and they either investigate the ignorance and bias of the media or they make it public the names of those who have been helping their messiah and have been lying so much that this is not just bias but corruption

Still dropping.
It’s new ones piled onto the old, that’s all. Of course, some # gets new jobs and that isn’t in this. It’s simply the first time people have applied when they are eligable to do so. That’s after 6 months+ of employment typically and when laid off, not voluntarily quit or fired with cause.
Your not far off from that. I can no longer find the story, but it did make the rounds last year. A mid-higher level Admin staffer was caught stating this Administration was not here to govern, but to “manage” America’s decline (may not be an exact quote, but that was the jist). This was before the serious job’s meltdown and all the bowing and ass-hattery started by this admin. Hope someone can reference or recalls this tale.
DOW still in free-fall

The 500K number is simply the number who have applied last week for unemployment benefits.
That is an annualized number of 26,000,000 (26 MILLION!)
Enough with that nonsense. I am on UC, but desperately want off and am looking everyday. Most people do not want to be one UC, especially at this point in history.
I’ll make you a deal.....I will trade you my unemployment check for your paycheck. Deal?
We need thread after thread with pictures of them at Martha’s Vineyard.
My guess is that they are going to attempt to keep the photographers at a far distance.....but these pics need to be seen.
There are 5 to 6 unemployed people for every single job opening.....and it looks to be getting worse.
What is so difficult to understand that extending (or not extending UC) will not affect this?
I can’t wrap my head around that number (I can, mathematically), but 500K NEW? 26Mil total now? I can’t imagine the suffering going on nation wide right now; and for what?
You got it right.....500,000 last week alone.
And obama is on his what.....5th vacation since July?
We need to have thread after thread with pictures of them in Martha’s Vineyard.
There’s the word!
Stocks drop as jobless claims rise unexpectedly

“Initial claims” is just that — the first time you go to the unemployment office after you’ve been laid off.
(One angle that I don’t see discussed even here on FR is the increasing tendency of employers to nudge you into quitting (via increasing workload, setting unrealistic goals, death by a thousand cuts, etc.) or inventing reasons to fire you (via impossible to disprove “conflicts with other workers”, e.g.) rather than lay you off, as that more often than not disqualifies you from getting unemployment insurance.)
I think “jobs created” is something they get via the weekly BLS survey of some employers. (The question of “jobs created or saved” via Porkulus or the Census is a completely different matter.) It might be as simple as comparing how many people are employed this week to how many were employed last week.
One way think about the two numbers is to keep in mind that a new business is going to add to Jobs Created, and an existing business that lays off people is going to add to Initial Claims, and there’s no paradox there. Also, big businesses add new jobs one hand (for a new product, for example, or a new office somewhere) while at the very same time they are laying off employees, closing an office, etc.
But we have been told over and over again by the liar in the white house and his minions in the press how the economy is getting better every day.
One ongoing thread would be good to cover all of their leisure activities since it’s seemingly nonstop!
