I believe he is running because he does not trust the Dems or Republicans to do the right thing especially on Immigration. He mentioned they had eight years to do the right thing but they failed. He says that when he wins he will deal with Immigration within the first month. 31 percent is pretty good and it is still early.

Does Colorado have a run-off rule? (i.e. if no one gets a majority of the vote, then there is a run-off between the top two candidates) If not, then the Republicans are screwed.

He is no better than Crist in that regard. The only realistic vehicle for Conservatives to be elected is by winning the Republican nomination for an office.
Third party runs, more often than not, are spoilers that get the Democrat elected. The only exception is New York, because of the unique laws where multiple parties can support a single candidate.

Tancredo and the rest of their third party ilk need to give it up and try to change the republican party from within. The republican primaries is where the battle against RINOs must be fought.
