FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 9/11 Families for a Safe & Strong America
Statement of Debra Burlingame, Co-founder of 9/11 Families for a Safe & Strong America, in Response to President Obama's Remarks about the Ground Zero Mosque
911 Families Stunned Presidents Support of Mosque at Ground Zero
New York, NY, Aug. 14 -- Barack Obama has abandoned America at the place where America's heart was broken nine years ago, and where her true values were on display for all to see. Since that dark day, Americans have been asked to bear the burden of defending those values, again and again and again. Now this president declares that the victims of 9/11 and their families must bear another burden. We must stand silent at the last place in America where 9/11 is still remembered with reverence or risk being called religious bigots.
Muslims have worshipped in New York without incident both before and after the attacks of 9/11. This controversy is not about religious freedom. 9/11 was more than a "deeply traumatic event," it was an act of war. Building a 15-story mosque at Ground Zero is a deliberately provocative act that will precipitate more bloodshed in the name of Allah. Those who continue to target and kill American civilians and U.S. troops will see it as a symbol of their historic progress at the site of their most bloody victory. Demolishing a building that was damaged by wreckage from one of the hijacked planes in order to build a mosque and Islamic Center will further energize those who regard it as a ratification of their violent and divinely ordered mission: the spread of shariah law and its subjugation of all free people, including secular Muslims who come to this country fleeing that medieval ideology, which destroys lives and crushes the human spirit.
We are stunned by the president's willingness to disregard what Americans should be proud of: our enduring generosity to others on 9/11--a day when human decency triumphed over human depravity. On that day, when 3,000 of our fellow human beings were killed in barbaric act of raw religious intolerance unlike this country had ever seen, Americans did not turn outward with hatred or violence, we turned to each other, armed with nothing more than American flags and countless acts of kindness. In a breathtakingly inappropriate setting, the president has chosen to declare our memories of 9/11 obsolete and the sanctity of Ground Zero finished. No one who has lived this history and felt the sting of our country's loss that day can truly believe that putting our families through more wrenching heartache can be an act of peace.
We will honor the memory of our loved ones. We will protect our children, whose lives will never be the same. We will not stand silent.

Thnx, oWf.
Thank YOU for voting to....and sending this obnoxious bunch a message that they can believe in!
Amen!
A Beautifully Written and Poignant letter.
Wolfstar, you are the first person I have read who has ever said that, and it's a brilliant point. I have never thought of that before. I hope somebody who has national coverage is reading FR picks this up.
I think the reason the leadership went back to the 1990's was that they were simply uncomfortable with the 2000's. It would have meant coming out and talking honestly about the threat from an insane Arab supremacy cult (aka Islam), talking about attempts to overthrow natural law and our Constitution, and defending American capitalism.
Part of this is because our "leadership" is elderly. I don't like McCain, but I honestly don't think he was trying to do us in; he was just an old man with an old mentality (actually, I have met other men that age with a much younger mentality, but I think politicians are different) and that was how he acted.
That said, I think the Dems were busy manipulating the RINO hunt. McCain was a RINO and a disaster, but it was very easy to turn conservatives against anybody by even hinting at the RINO bomb. I think there were a lot of people here on FR doing that, and I have always felt that a great number of them were Dems encouraging us to eat our own.
What part of HUSSEIN do people not understand?
Can you hear me now, all you dummies who voted for this POS?
The Mormon would have been a far better choice.

It’s never too late.
Thank you, Wolfstar! We are in bad shape to fight back thanks to the "more conservative than thou" dividers. GOP are fighting for their lives vs. carpetbagger libertarian candidates posing as "the most conservative" Republican when they need and deserve unified support to defeat the Leftist steamroller coming at us.
Wow. Thanks for the link. That was from over a year ago. But it was never reported in the state media.
we are so screwed
Anyone who is surprised by this hasn’t been paying attention! It’s absolutely disgusting!
Two possible reasons. One, they didn't believe he was really that bad. Two, they didn't believe he had a chance of actually winning the nomination. It was probably some of both. But regarding the latter, even Hillary didn't believe Obama had a chance.
Obama had a brilliant campaign which leveraged caucus states over primary states where the Democrat party was strong, leveraged the youth volunteers in predominately white caucus states, and leveraged his race in the red state south, where a big black turnout gave the Super Tuesday primaries to him. I think Hillary actually got more primary votes nationwide than Obama.
"Why was most of the Right's focus on defeating Hillary Clinton in the primaries rather than doing everything possible to prevent this monster from gaining power?"
I bet even here on FR most of the people in in 2007 and the first half of 2008 had a paranoid fear of Hillary. Sean Hannity called his show the "Stop Hillary Express" for all of 2007 and half of 2008. The right was more concerned with Hillary's Wellesley thesis on Saul Alinsky than Obama's experience as an Alinsky acolyte.
One other thing was so little was known about Obama. He was a man without a history. That should have been a major red flag, but instead it prevented bad news. There was no dirt to dig up, because there was no place to dig.
I am still amazed that only one or two people from the time Obama was a child through Occidental and Columbia have actually been interviewed about him. I don't recall any Punahou classmates ever being interviewed. And there was one friend from Occidental, and Obama's roommate from Columbia, and one professor from Columbia interviewed.
Very little was heard from his first Chicago days, his Harvard days, his second Chicago days, his Illinois legislature days, or even his time in the Senate. He seems to be a loner of a man with no friends, or at least no friends he wants people to talk to.
And for some reason, the press never ran with the scandals (Ayers, Rezko, Wright), because they so desperately wanted a Democrat in the White House.
I remember Sean Hannity had Reverend Wright on his show in 2007, long before it ever made the mainstream media.
Sadly, this seems to be the only private property rights this administration believes in.

Interesting post. I work at the high school her brother “Chick” attended. He was an Angels fan who was coming home to see a game with his family for his birthday.
And look at the picture of him that’s up on Drudge right now: he looks drawn, pale and tired. He’s been doing a Ramadan fast.
Then they are idiots, and should have paid attention starting about 3 years ago when Hussein showed up.
I have the same question. If anyone knows, let me know.
Honest post DW377. Thanks.
“I hope the towel head does not come up with the money. He needs a 100M. Even Dubai is broke and has stopped conctruction. And the Immam does not have the money. He blew the wad on buying the place. “
Don’t worry. The Jihadist-in-Chief has plenty of stimulus money in his ‘stash’ that he’d gladly pass on for the mosque construction.
