““Can I have the rest of that?...””

Sounds like the Benny Hill skit where the guy gets his food, looks at his watch, gets up and leaves, only to come back to find Benny eating his meal!

Thank you, thank you, thank you ~ yes, that is the solution to the conundrum ~ some gotta’ eat and have short lunchbreaks, and yet he is dead.

Oh, if rigor mortis has set in you'll be putting him in that chair and his arms are going to go up in the air waving the uneaten taco.

I want to reconsider my thoughts on this one a bit.

Thanks for that Tulsa article. Man, what kind of people has this American society given birth to? This is damn scarey. It’s like zombies have taken over human bodies.

I used to live near a retirement community. The inhabitants would kick-off in the most inconvenient places and at the most inconvenient times. The groceries had to establish protocol regarding expired customers in their stores. It was a requirement that an aisle be blocked from both ends lest the less demanding of the clientele pummel the cadaver in their morning shopping. That raised a good amount of ire when the geriatric set couldn’t get to where they was wantin’ to go. A stiff on the floor was not an impediment to a good sale on prune juice.

Restrooms had to be checked nightly to be sure that no one had passed as they passed. Any stall door that remained closed too long was suspect and more than one geezer was interrupted in their struggles by well meaning welfare checks. Had to get ‘em before rigor mortis set in in that position and a special casket required. The strain of their last mortal act sent them to the pearly gates in droves. Cause of death: cheese.

On large (2K+ people) cruise ships it is not a rare occasion that someone’s body needs to be put in an empty freezer until the ship returns to it’s home port.

That explains the blood splatter...

Same mentality as my aunt's father, who asked at his wife's wake if anyone knew of a woman he could replace her with. When some objected to his starting a search before she was in the ground, he replied:"Boys, she's just as dead tonight as she will ever be."

It is called callousness or in PC--insensitivity.

“Well, good gosh a’mighty! She’s dead as she’ll ever be, ain’t she? Well, ain’t she?” - Rucker Blakeslee, in the book ‘Cold Sassy Tree’, in reference to Miss Mattie Lou, his recently deceased wife. Seems like your aunt’s father and he thought alike!!

Yeah! But Aunt Belle's father said it first--more than 75 years ago. Maybe the author heard of his comment. We have certainly talked about it once a few times in our extended family. Or maybe that view is more prevalent than we like to think.
