WEST POINT — Cadet Katie Miller said she couldn't listen to her comrades toss around the word "fag" anymore, and making up stories about fictional boyfriends was driving her crazy.
So Miller, a lesbian who ranks No. 9 in her class of future Army leaders, stepped out the closet last weekend and quit West Point.
"I thought I would have the strength to re-closet myself," said Miller, who was openly gay to her family and friends in high school. "I completely underestimated the personal toll it would have on me.

I like the comment about the failure of government social policy.
Failure of government social policy is what got her there in the first place.
There was a time when prospective cadets were put through the wringer mentally, physically and socially before they were appointed.
But that was a different time and place when our leaders respected the military.
Or at least kept quiet about their views against the military.

I'll do you one better: I'd much rather she didn't try to pull this hoax off in the first place, freeing up the spot for someone who actually COULD serve her country in an upstanding manner and not wasting our taxpayer funds on her incomplete education.

Sorry, but good riddance. I don’t belong there anymore than she does. Both of us would cause a distraction from the troops’ main mission; she, because of deviant sexuality, and I, because of my physical unfitness for duty. Not everybody has the right to succeed in the military.
She will be contacted by similarly oriented lawyers for a consultation on the lawsuit that will be filed against the military for “harassment.” Since she is a member of a protected privileged minority “oppressed” group, she is guaranteed a good income for the rest of her life.
The only problem with talking about homosexuals is that you have to talk about homosexuality.

Now she should find religion and heal herself into a healthy lifestyle. Then of course she’ll regret leaving West Point. But it will be a start in the right direction.

Wonder how much this had to do with it?
The incident involving manning and wikileaks brought "gays" in the military, aberrant behavior and mental instability to the top though we saw how quickly the story disappeared once it became known that manning was openly homosexual.
According to recent stories gays are now openly serving with no fear of expulsion and are being fast tracked for promotion, along with other protected minorities.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. They want acceptance to make their behavior look and feel normal. It ain’t gonna happen.
The military dodged a bullet with this wuss.
“making up stories about fictional boyfriends”....this is a violation of the Cadet Honor Code, and usually grounds for dismissal.
She is about to start her 3rd year, and this is when the resignations happen. If you stay beyond that, and later quit, there is a possibility of having to serve for a few years as an E-4, to pay back for the education. I remember two instances where cadets (both women) resigned at this point...but were ‘convinced’ to stay.
West Point has not yet accepted her resignation, so look out. She may just stay, which is why the admitted violation of the honor code is interesting to me.
Is that the young man who’s place she took?
Now that she has outed herself, and is free to speak as she wishes, she will never ever have to hear the word ‘fag’ again.
