Last week, Iran's opposition leaders Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karoubi canceled anti-government demonstrations timed to commemorate the anniversary of last year's disputed presidential election. Secretary of the State Hillary Clinton called the cancellation "regrettable," but missed the larger point. The reform these two men offer is not what the majority of Iranians want: They want an end to the current Islamic regime.
One year ago, the Obama administration missed an opportunity to support Iran's uprising. They mistakenly calculated that back-door negotiations with Iran's clerics and promises made by its rulers would bring cooperation on the nuclear issue. The Americans were duped and now find themselves grasping for another chance to support an Iranian uprising.
Meanwhile, the Obama administration has ordered a massive buildup of U.S. forces in the Persian Gulf starting with Carrier Strike Group 10, headed by the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier. Just last Friday an armada of more than 12 U.S. and Israeli warships passed through the Suez canal amid extreme security provided by Egypt. The ships are headed for the Red Sea and from there to the Persian Gulf. Another four U.S. warships will be making their way to the region to join the Strike Group. The Americans have also conducted joint air and naval strike practices with France and the U.K. under the command of American forces, while Germany is sending warships to the area, also under the command of American forces.

What would have the greater seismic effect? The bombs and shells exploding in Iran, or the skull explosions on Kos and DU??
The last gasps of a dying Empire.
Interesting....this would explain the recent “softening” between Obama and Bibi. It could also be a political maneuvre before the mid-terms to show the “strength” of the president.
There will only be war involving the US if Obama determines it is in his domestic political benefit.
When in trouble at home, Wag the dog...................
......How do you bomb a country that is already in the stone age into the stone age?....
Perhaps you are confusing the Persians with the more backawrd Arabs of the Arabian Peninsula or the Indians of North America.
Think Cyrus, think Darius, think Xerxes. The Persians have been out of the Stone Age for ages.
I believe war in the mid east is inevitable, but we have the wrong leader as commander in chief at this point in history.
Obama would like nothing more than to see thousands of American military men killed.
If it comes, it should be an air war. Every time the Army convinces and administration (in this case a regime) that they need “boots on the ground” it results in a long drawn out nation building exercise. We can’t afford that this time. Carpet bomb the SOBs until they beg for mercy!
-His base won't allow it.
-His religion won't allow it.
-His hate for America won't allow it
Part of his ideology is based on the premise that America has raped other countries throughout it's history.
Send in the b-52 buffs
That occurred to me also.
Although if war rumors heat up, I would think even more votes would go to Repubs.
I think you are right (double entendre on purpose)
Agreed. Never gonna happen.
Something seems amiss here. Its unlikely Obama would willingly murder his Islamic bretheren. The guys been cozying up to these people since he got into office. I want to know how this benefits him, not America, but him. I’m tending to think the disaster on the economy here a war would produce is the kind of benefit he would be looking for. I think, to steal Forbes’s line, that Obama wants to pound America back into the Stone Age.
He would do anything that would advance his agenda. Obama loves division and internal strife. Under Bush and the WOT the looney left tried to relive its glory days of the Viet Nam era. Even with ample, sympathetic coverage from the MSM, the American public generally supported the war in which only a very small percentage of the population was directly engaged via family members or close friends. The anti-war movement got very little traction with the public at large.
An open war with Iran would be on a much larger scale and would be, for Obama the mother of all crises. Throw in a draft, and I suspect it would create internal divisions in the US that would make the Viet Nam era seem like a small family squabble.
