Should Arizona secede?
WashingtonTimes.com ^ | July 29, 2010 | Jeffrey T. Kuhner

Judicial activism is pushing America to the breaking point. This week, a federal judge blocked key provisions of Arizona's immigration law, thwarting the will of the people. The decision was ominous and will reverberate for years to come.

Judge Susan Bolton, appointed by former President Bill Clinton, is a liberal elitist who believes judicial imperialism trumps democracy. Her ruling states that local police cannot check the immigration status of people arrested or stopped for violations of the law. In her view, that would amount to an abuse of civil liberties and unduly burden the federal immigration system. She also stipulated that residents cannot be required to carry proof of legal status.

Which is why Rubio was smoking Crist before he went Indy and why Rick Scott will probably knock off McCullum. Whatever!

That's a great idea...just one problem...they're not spending with real(earned)U.S. dollars...it's all IOU's to places like China...along with Fed. Reserve counterfeiting.

(Did not Obama himself last year say we(well, U.S.)were broke?)

They could give two sh ts about tax receipts right now...this gang of thieves are nothing more than drug addicts stealing from their someone elses kids piggy bank...while running up their someone elses credit card...all to fuel their habit.

It makes a Madoff ponzi scheme look like a game of checkers....and nobody gives a damn.

From what I heard on Fox News, LEO’s can still ask for identification just as they were doing before the bill. The bill requires them to ascertain status, but the judge said that might be too overwhelming for the feds, and issued an injunction.

Lately, I've been hearing in the media the Leftist siren call for direct elections, ie. democracy instead of a republic. The call is to get rid of the Electoral College. One campaign meme is to put fear into the people that some republican candidates oppose the "direct election of senators," playing on the public's ignorance of history that senators were not always elected directly.

I have been saying for a year, that I think Obama will try to extend his Presidency indefinitely by a Chavez/Zelaya-style "popular vote", 22nd Amendment be damned. We know the game plan:"Let the PEOPLE decide!" "Democracy for ALL!" "Let's make HISTORY!"

If the Progressives succeed in overriding the 22nd, and implement illegal amnesty, then secession SHOULD happen, because the Republic is over.

And just because it failed in the past doesn't mean it will in the future. Otherwise we'd still be under the Roman or British Empire.

If AZ DID secede, I’d move there immediately to get out of Oh Bummer’s Kingdom.

She seems pretty gutsy to me.

“The only way anybody could break off viably would be for Texas and Utah and all the other states they could take with them to do it.”

There is always a leader, then there are followers. Jan Brewer strikes me as the leader type. Maybe the next Jefferson Davis.

Maybe, but Arizona isn’t the state to start it. It would have to start with Texas and Utah.

Arizona could argue that Bolton and the Federal Government has stripped Arizona of its sovereignty by refusing to respect or defend its borders. By association, Texas, New Mexico and California could make the same case.

If you can’t control your borders, you don’t really have a state. Therefore, the U.S. has seceded from Arizona. I don’t think they will do it, but a compelling case could be made for Arizona, just as it could be made for any border state.

Yup. When Rubio and McCollum spewed their open-border RINO sh*t saying they were against the AZ law - they both dropped in the polls. It was a slam dunk for both of them up until then.

I sure wish we had a Rick Scott choice for Senator instead of Scarface.

“To paraphrase the immortal words of James Pettigru, Arizona is too small to be a country and too large to be an insane asylum.”

My regards to Pettigu, but I’ve been to the Vatican which is a sovereign state within the borders of the city of Rome. It’s not insane. It’s small, certainly smaller than AZ, and it’s a country and has been for hundreds of years. The State/Country of Arizona with its own Constitution and its own citizens with the right to bear arms would be formidable.

It could certainly defend itself against the pantywaists from Kalifornia and Nevada, also Nu Mexico. The people in Mexico itself would be too smart to attempt continued invasions knowing they would be obliterated. All problems solved.

AZ is a great place, just very dry.

Texas is infested with RINOs like Rick Perry, Kay Bailey and Cornyn. Utah is dumping their stinking RINOs. Bennet is toast and Orrin Hatch is next. Gotta love the folks of Utah and AZ (if AZ dumps McShame).

” She is a republican- they talk big and make back room deals.”

“..they?..” Republicans are “they?” Perhaps you ought to move back to Amsterdam, Conservative9, you and we would be better off not to mention happier. Democrats are the back room dealmakers; wait another 14 hours and see how Rangel gets out of his fix.

“Maybe, but Arizona isn’t the state to start it. It would have to start with Texas and Utah.”

Your opinion and mine are equal - I say Arizona can start whatever it wants, the rest can choose to be Obama acolytes or can follow Arizona’s lead.

I bet Conservative 9 watches lots of TV. Idiots cannot connect the dots that TV/networks/cable/libs cut good Repubs off at the knees what they try to do something.

Keep watching ball games folks and nonsesne on TV because TV controls America and they support Obama 110%.

Agree. Arizona should also announce at a press conference that according to the judge they can no longer enforce federal law and will cease to enforce all federal laws immediately.
We have to learn to fight fire with fire.
