PHOENIX – A judge has blocked the most controversial sections of Arizona's new immigration law from taking effect Thursday, handing a major legal victory to opponents of the crackdown.
The law will still take effect Thursday, but without many of the provisions that angered opponents — including sections that required officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws.

If they are already arrested, aren’t they also already restricted? The judge searching for a way to give bam what he wants without appearing to be in his pocket has issued a ruling that is an oxymoron.
This is ridiculous.
If police can't ask for evidence of legal status, how can an employer, a private citizen require it?
When is the Feds going to give the Southwest back to Mexico?

Arizona, tell the feds to “PISS OFF”.
This does not, however, block police from checking someone’s immigration status. It only blocks the State from requiring cops to do so. The cops are still free to do so on their own unless they are constrained by “sanctuary city” laws. Hopefully that will get overturned on appeal.
Where the rubber meets the road, the critical issue, is the response of Arizona WHEN, not if, SCOTUS says no as well.
The destructive can will either be kicked further down the road, to dissolution of the American ideal.

I hope it goes to the SCOTUS. As of today I think we’d get a 5/4 ruling in favor of Arizona.
Bank robbery and counterfeiting are federal crimes, AZ don’t enforce those either.
