Should there be a "gatekeeper" regulating internet bloggers? In the aftermath of the Shirley Sherrod incident, that's what CNN promoted on July 23.
Anchors Kyra Phillips and John Roberts discussed the "mixed blessing of the internet," and agreed that there should be a crackdown on anonymous bloggers who disparage others on the internet.
"There are so many great things that the internet does and has to offer, but at the same time, Kyra, as you know, there is this dark side," Roberts said. "Imagine what would have happened if we hadn't taken a look at what happened with Shirley Sherrod and plumbed the depths further and found out that what had been posted on the internet was not in fact reflective of what she said."

Hey, the dufus in charge is the guy at fault. Had he not been quaking in fear of Glenn Beck, cooler heads may have prevailed.

There was no Breitbard “incident.”
How Dumbo Sherrod has become a hero for saying she “handed him over to one of his own” leaves me absolutely dumbfounded. The “incident” is that the left has managed to salvage her and twist everything to make those clearly, obviously, undeniably racist remarks, along with the reaction of her audience, into something praiseworthy. I guess maybe because she didn’t take out a gun and shoot the white farmer? Or throw his application into the trash, which was obviously what first crossed her mind?

Just a lot of hot air. If they don’t use 4chan as an example, they are not even *close* to serious.

Oh geez, hasnt the Supreme Court already weighed in on the importance of anonymous speech?

A Crackuh crackdown! Crack dat whip!
"You know, I haven't seen such a mean-spirited people as I've seen lately over this issue of health care. Some of the racism we thought was buried. Didn't it surface? Now, we endured eight years of the Bush's and we didn't do the stuff these Republicans are doing because you have a black President." Shirley Sherrod 3/27/2010 @ Georgia NAACP meeting
----------------------------------------------
While appearing on Anderson Coopers 360, Sherrod stated that Breitbart would like to get us stuck back in the time of slavery.

What law did Breitbart break? None. He posted and example of NAACP racism, and the example was valid...That the White House in typical knee jerk fashion fired Sherrod just shows how incompetent the Obama admin is. If anybody should be shut down it should be those promoting the false accusations that Tea Party people shouted racial slurs to Rep. Lewis. After all, that is what started this whole mess.

Free speech will not be tolerated? It must be regulated by our masters in DC?
If they take free speech, they start something that we, the people, will finish. I know a few critters Id like to “speak too”.

Funny. The instant the first thread appeared about SHERROD’S COMMENTS, I was able to find the FULL VIDEO and listen to it.
“Anchors Kyra Phillips and John Roberts discussed the “mixed blessing of the internet,” and agreed that there should be a crackdown on anonymous bloggers who disparage others on the internet. “
FUNNY(ER). I guess it’s OK to disparage others on the internet, as long as you have a ‘private’ chatroom like JOURNOLIST.
Are Kyra and John members of JOURNOLIST?

So let’s see....
- No member of Congress reads the full text of bills they pass.
- No member of the Administration (especially the President) reads anything.
- No one at the Justice Department reads the state laws before they bring lawsuits.
- No member of the press takes into account the full context of what they report.
And CNN wants limits on bloggers and talk radio hosts who do?

Yeh....While you’re at it...go into all the restaurants where people are talking about Sherrod...and shut them up. Just shoot’em right!! Shutting down bloggers is the exact same thing.

Kyra, as you know, there is this dark side And who, pray tell, will determine what is the "dark side" of the Internet?
There is much on the Internet I don't deem appropriate, but for me, freedom of speech trumps all.
As long as there is freedom of speech, there is freedom.

Sherrod is a Marxist idiot. And racist to boot, just like ALL Marxists black or white. And if the true black booted Marxists ever do seize totalitarian power, the black population will be among the first to know it.
She should read up on Margaret Sanger and the original purpose of Planned Parenthood. Look it up.
