As of 10:00 p.m. EDT, hours after Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack fired Shirley Sherrod for racism in her official duties after being exposed by BigGovernment.com there is a near total blackout by the mainstream news media on the scandal.
Sherrod was appointed a year ago by Vilsack to be the Georgia director of Rural Development where she doled out millions of dollars in federal funds.
Just days before her appointment, the Obama Justice Department settled a lawsuit by Sherrod and her husband claiming discrimination against their farm cooperative for a reported $13 million.
A search of Google News and Google Blogs shows nothing form the Associated Press or Reuters. Nothing from Politico or The Hill. Nothing from The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times. Nothing from MSNBC or CNN. Nothing from ABC or NBC. CBS gets partial credit for running a story earlier about Sherrod's racist remarks but has failed to follow up with the story of her firing.
Credit goes to Fox News for reporting the story and updating it with news of Sherrod's termination:
The Agriculture Department announced Monday, shortly after FoxNews.com published its initial report on the video, that Sherrod had resigned.
"There is zero tolerance for discrimination at USDA, and I strongly condemn any act of discrimination against any person," Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a written statement. "We have been working hard through the past 18 months to reverse the checkered civil rights history at the department and take the issue of fairness and equality very seriously."
Sherrod was videotaped at an NAACP dinner in March of this year speaking about an incident where she discriminated against a white farmer while acting in her offical capacity because she is black and is prejudiced against white farmers.
Big Government broke the story with video to back it up around mid-day. The failure of the mainstream media to touch this story even after Sherrod was forced to resign and was publicly rebuked by an Obama cabinet secretary is a shameful example of the censorious nature of the liberal mainstream media.
Payola.... lots of payola out there for black and white kleptocrats.
The MSM harbors a good number of such cowards, though not in the way that Eric Holder probably has in mind.
The over/under on when the Washington Post Ombudsman does a story picking a standard excuse to cover why they didn’t report this is 6 weeks.
Hope to hell Breitbart follows up on this. It's got corruption written all over it.
Another story dies down the Memory Hole. Ignorance is Strength.
Thirteen million? What the hell was she growing, plutonium?
Six weeks minimum before it will be safe to offer a mea culpa — again.
This is one case where I hope the lawyers got most of the money.
I’ve scoured the “major” news outlets and nothing! Complicit in their silence.
Fox News is running the Video now and I bet they continue repeating it. I hope Breitbart has more of this type of material to drop on them, especially video.
Wake up America, WAKE UP!
Go antithesis! Go antithesis! It's your birthday! It's your birthday! All riiiiiight!
That's racist ! ! !

Yes, yes they are...
“If you do a Google search of her name in the news section it shows over 1100 articles but then click on the link to the articles and all of them are Tea Party Racist and only a couple mentions of her”
I just noticed the same thing a minute ago and was going to let kristinn know. Google is now nothing more than Obama’s private KGB and Pravda rolled into one. They are probably busy scrubbing the internet of this woman’s racist trail as we speak.
The $13 million dollar settlement was won by a co-op. No telling how many individuals split the money, but surely, she and her husband profited handsomely from it.
I emailed CNN tv and asked why they aren’t covering it, and sent it as a tip for a news story.
Did the same thing on the Latino group harassing the Tea party telling them, ‘your’e too white’, ‘go back to Europe’.
You bet. Because they no doubt agreed with everything Sherrod said and did. Every newsroom in the MSM is biased against rural southern whites.
It is one of the most pernicious aspects of modern-day journalism.
More people saw it on Fox News than they would have wanted to see it. Could have been worse. Could have been on MSNBC and nobody would have seen it.
I bet she did too.
