As over-leveraged investment houses began to fail in September 2008, the leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties, of major corporations, and opinion leaders stretching from the National Review magazine (and the Wall Street Journal) on the right to the Nation magazine on the left, agreed that spending some $700 billion to buy the investors' "toxic assets" was the only alternative to the U.S. economy's "systemic collapse." In this, President George W. Bush and his would-be Republican successor John McCain agreed with the Democratic candidate, Barack Obama. Many, if not most, people around them also agreed upon the eventual commitment of some 10 trillion nonexistent dollars in ways unprecedented in America. They explained neither the difference between the assets' nominal and real values, nor precisely why letting the market find the latter would collapse America. The public objected immediately, by margins of three or four to one.
When this majority discovered that virtually no one in a position of power in either party or with a national voice would take their objections seriously, that decisions about their money were being made in bipartisan backroom deals with interested parties, and that the laws on these matters were being voted by people who had not read them, the term "political class" came into use. Then, after those in power changed their plans from buying toxic assets to buying up equity in banks and major industries but refused to explain why, when they reasserted their right to decide ad hoc on these and so many other matters, supposing them to be beyond the general public's understanding, the American people started referring to those in and around government as the "ruling class."

What do you think 1775-1783 was? We call it the “Revolution” but it was every bit Civil War - citizen against citizen.
Those weren’t simply “the British”; they were Government troops. And a lot of them lived here. And the Tory militias that were raised were “homegrown” and loyal to the Crown. That was as much brother against brother as Civil War II (1861-1865)
Then, as now, there were two types of folks;
Those that saw themselves as free-born Americans with a God-given right to liberty - and those that saw themselves as subjects of something else.
Some things never change.
The soundbites and slogans can energize later from the truth - just like in the first American Revolution.
CA is a good case subject. It is $22bn in debt this year so far. Last year it is conservatively estimated the underground (illegal) untaxed economy generated $120bn.
The solution is to arrest all illegals, heavily fine those who hire them and put US citizens back to work. US citizens pay taxes and vote.

..but underneath it, the common element is still sh*t.
That’s where we are right now. We have absolute complete and total sh*t running things.
We HIRE these assclowns to be managers and caretakers of the country, nothing more; and after the election, we as a nation close our eyes and go about our business, living our lives, trying to make our daily way in the world, all the while trusting these b*stards to do their jobs because, hey, we’re ALL Americans, after all, and gee, NO AMERICAN would EVER do anything to hurt the country...
..but somewhere along the way, we allowed the caretakers to begin believing that they’re actually our Overlords.
...and somewhere along the way, we weren’t paying attention when some of these wretched b*stards started mouthing off that hey, maybe I DO hate my own country enough to rip it apart from the inside out...and their actions have proven it over and over again...and people elected them anyway...
...and these same people, thinking themselves Overlords and all that, have shown themselves to have absolute, complete, and total CONTEMPT for us when we dare have the temerity to show an iota of indignation at their abuses and indiscretions.
...and in the fact that they think themselves Overlords, they forget the single most important fact of history in their arrogance...
..that fact that every once in while, the Little Guy - the guy who bends his back to the grindstone every day, who busts his ass to put food on the table for his kids, who worries and loses sleep about the bills and caring for the sick mother or father, who suffers the heart attackes and the high cholesterol and the strokes because of stress, who can’t afford the mortgage, the property taxes, the school taxes, the utilities and the basic necessities anymore because the hired help has destroyed the economy - every once in a while, who puts up with the daily political correct bullsh*t and indoctrination and other nonsense just to keep his job...
..that Little Guy wakes up one day, looks at his flag and his country and remembers how it was and how it was supposed to be, and his eyes open a little wider with the realization of how F*CKED OVER his country has become, and he stands up and says not just “no”, but “OH HELL NO!” - and usually it doesn’t end well for the Overlord...and everyone else involved.
Life is a wheel, and it revolves. And you’re either driving the revolution of that wheel, or getting crushed under the weight of it.

The reason I do not like RINO in any form is that the targets of our ridicule wear it as a badge of honor.
They know they’re republicans even if the Republican Party ostensibly is the party defending the constitution.
An elitist republican CANNOT be a constitutional republican. An elitist republican believes they’re doing what us morons need be done, and it’s their duty to violate the constitution where it needs to be violated.
RINO = Republican In Name Only. But they’re still republicans, simply a different kind.
Come up with a new term to deride these a$$$holes and maybe they’ll finally get pissed off and thereby give away their dirty little secret.

Who doesn’t remember that line William Safire wrote for Spiro Agnew? That kind of thing cuts deep. Calling the press corp Nattering Nabobs of Negativism, even though it now well understates how far they’ve fallen, remains a classic example of what would serve us well.

These a$$holes take turns mounting a phony opposition. Bob Dole, Al Gore, John Kerry, McLame is simply the most obvious Prez candidate ever.
His run against Hayworth is so different from his run against Obama, that you wouldn’t be too shocked to discover that McCain really is two different people, like in the classic “Man in the Iron Mask.”
